GO WEST! 7 days to apply to Venture Leaders NYC
End of February rhymes, since already 15 years, with time to apply to the Venture Leaders program! If you’re (relatively) new on the startup scene, you may wonder what it means: simply said, you have the opportunity to get selected in the Swiss Startup National Team of 2016!
I had the chance to participate in 2014 with my company (you can discover my posts about the 2014 and 2015teams) and I can…

Meet Swiss start-up Zkipster
As the start-up scene in New York City is rapidly developing, it's always exciting to see Swiss entrepreneurs getting in on the action. We had the pleasure of meeting with two Swiss start-up guys, David Becker and Daniel Dessauges, who are disrupting the event marketing industry. Zkipster is the first guest list management software specifically designed for event planners and public relations professionals. Compatible with iPad and all iOS platforms, Zkipster creates a virtual check-in experience, enabling an easier, more efficient way to welcome guests at large events. David and Daniel split their time between Zurich and New York, traveling between Europe and the U.S. to meet with new clients and demo their product to potential partners. When we asked why they chose New York over a city with a mature start-up scene, like San Francisco, the answer was simple: the distance to travel between the two continents is easier from the East Coast. Also, as there are many media companies, marketing agencies and Fortune 500 businesses in New York, it makes sense for them to make this city their home base. Zkipster has been used by AOL, the Whitney Museum, Hugo Boss, and NY Fashion Week, in addition to other clients for red-carpet VIP events.
In New York, the Zkipster team works out of co-working space offered by Swiss furniture design company, Vitra. In addition to top floor conference rooms, the guys are able to take meetings and work on their start-up from the open-floor space on the first level of the Vitra showroom. With the number of co-working spaces in New York increasing monthly, it's great to see a Swiss company offering office space to a Swiss start-up!
The iPad guest list app is just the beginning for these two entrepreneurs. What started out as a mobile application has grown into a company, and they hope their start-up will have more offerings in the future. The Zkipster Product Demo video (from Vimeo) can also be viewed above. For more information, visit Zkipster.com, or facebook.com/zkipster.
Check out our interview with David below to learn more about Zkipster!
We hope to see more start-ups from the "Silicon Alps" relocate to New York City in the future for their U.S. market entry!
