frog
Another awesome gay frog, the Emerald Glass frog (Espadarana prosoblepon). The Latin genus name “Espadarana” translates to SwordFrog, in reference to the spiny protrusion you can see on his upper arm. The males use these humeral spines in combat, which involves hanging from their toes face to face and wrestling while trying to stab each other with their “swords”. 10/10 gay frog.

Leather Sword Frog
Well today I wanted to make a scabbard for my Rawlings synthetic short sword, but I didn't have the right kind of wood to work with. (Not to mention if I did I'd still be out there trying to build it.)
So instead I went to my trusty supply of leather and worked on making a prototype sword frog. So far it works fairly well. It sags a bit when it's holding the sword, but I think there's enough rivets to hold it in place.
It's not a perfect piece, but like all things I've worked it, it more or less serves its purpose, and after some practice it'll start to look good. I realize some rivets are showing their backs rather than face, but whatever, it still does the job.
(Oh, and yes, I realize the sword frog really isn't Viking appropriate, but it's what I have until I can make a sheath.)
