Did You Know: Randic Torn began sword-hunts after he seized control of the Yokudan government, following the death of Elden Yokeda Mansel Sesnit? Although Torn's Sword-Hunt divided Yokudan society between the commoners and warriors (sword-singers), his efforts temporarily resolved most of the internal conflict. Torn's 120 year reign saw progress in ending the strife in the Empire, but it was not a lasting peace. Yokuda fell into a devastating civil war the moment Torn passed away.
#UESP#Lore#The Elder Scrolls#Elder Scrolls Online#Redguard#Yokuda#Did You Know#Sword-singer#A line from The Improved Emperor's Guide to Tamriel really paints a picture of how dystopian things were before Randic Torn took charge.#Those married to the arts of poetry and learning were forced to join their uncouth brothers and sisters#and all were to learn the song of the blade.#This makes it sound like essentially everyone in Yokuda was being conscripted and trained to fight#And considering Redguards Their Histories and Heroes#describes this period as a continuous civil war between countless warlords brigands and warrior monks it might be literally true.#This makes it seems like Torn's real reform was creating civilians after hundreds of years of their not being any.#Of course the same text basically makes Torn seem like a ruthless dictator who is mostly notable for being a lighter shade of gray#A temporary reprieve#from two of the most violent and destructive periods of Yokudan history#But he is an interesting character for someone who is barely mentioned.
