Top Five At 5: Pilot Episode

So, I’ve teamed up with my good friend sydgreedy to create an experience like none other. This has been a journey to create, but I am so happy to finally release this series for the world to see.

The idea came to me about four months ago. I thought to myself ‘why don’t people watch videos anymore?’ Then, I realized we’re such a microwave generation we want everything to be instantaneous gratification. No one wants to sit and watch an entire video that means absolutely nothing anyway. The same plots, same flashy cars and clothes, etc...

Well, I personally enjoy watching a neat visual when I listen to music. I often find myself watching my favorite cartoons while listening to Gucci’s classics. And, DING *cue light bulb* there it was. I struck gold.

Only thing stopping me was a skilled animator. I wasn’t familiar with flash animation and the Lord did not gift me with the talent of drawing/painting/none of that. I began to think of artists that I knew were talented enough to pull this off. I missed with a few, but I started noticing a bunch of Sydney’s artwork on Instagram and something instantly clicked. This girl is talented.

From there, I sent her the idea and she was totally down. She has never tried animation with any of her pieces before this series, so this was a whirlwind of creativity. We want to give you 90′s inspired cartoons infused with progressive music that fills our Soundclouds.

I even created the catchy jingle in the beginning with a few of the homies so you know I mean business. (I truly hope you can’t stop singing it because as many times as I’ve heard it I can't get it out of my head.) The jingle was inspired by Gucci Mane’s Classical and the intro was a mashup of our top five favorite cartoons with a special tribute to our black brotherens. Thanks to Malcolm and Byron for helping me produce it. :)

I wish that I could produce these episodes more often, but the way our schedules are set up.. Yeah, it’s practically impossible. However, I am hoping that once a month is more than enough until we’re pros at this.
