📖 the fated photograph

while cleaning her attic one fateful day, cathandra stumbles upon a box containing a photograph of a younger version of her mother alongside a curly haired woman, beaming as they hold up the decapitated head of a monster.

stunned, frustrated, and bewildered — cathandra began rethinking all those moments her mother shot her a glance at her ramblings about her fantasy novels. what once registered as a disapproving glare, now settles in her mind as something deeper.

what kind of adventurous past did her mother once live exactly, that has since transformed her into an uptight, strict woman?
