Plot Thoughts - "Go Fuck Yourself"

(aka: "I'd like to see that")

Curt and Eddie are hanging out at Eddie's apartment, having a few casual drinks, just chatting, and Eddie's in the middle of telling Curt a story:

"---and then the guy says: Go fuck yourself," Eddie said, gesturing towards the past antagonist with his empty cup. "So I said: Buddy, you don't know what I'm capable of. Get lost."

Curt didn't laugh loudly like the guys at the Bugle had when he told the same story; Curt's warm chuckle was soft and classy, rich with the appropriate amount of approval that such a clever snap back deserved. Eddie let himself bask in amusement for a moment as Curt took a sip from his own glass, watching him thoughtfully from over the rim.

But then the other man threw him for a loop:

"I'd like to see that."

"What, me tell some random blowhard off?"

"No."

The single word hung in the air between them. A challenge. An opportunity.

"I'm not that impressive," Eddie waved him off with an uncomfortable laugh. When Curt's watchful stare didn't waver, he added: "Or that flexible."

"But you have Venom."

Right. Right, he had Venom. And that was what made the retort so good: the other guy *didn't* know what he-- what they --could do. Right?

He must have looked lost, because Curt finally blinked and progressed the conversation smoothly with a question so casual, they could both easily pretend that exchange hadn't happened.

"So then what did he do?"

"Oh, well---"

But Eddie couldn't let it go. The watchful stare that had pinned him to that moment, the implication that there had been something there, an invitation to something that he had somehow missed. It lingered in the back of his mind for the rest of the night, long after Curt had left and he had put himself to bed.

"...do you think he really meant it?" he finally asked out loud to the darkness.

[That he would like to watch you fuck yourself?] Venom asked back.

"I mean..." No. Absolutely not. Of Course not. "...maybe? Yeah?"

[Yes]

"But I can't," Eddie helplessly pointed out the obvious.

[But you have me] Venom countered in such a matter-of-fact tone that Eddie was now certain he was definitely missing something. That was exactly what Curt had said.

But unlike Curt, Venom lets him in on what he had missed...

Late one night, when Eddie and Curt are a little drunk or overly tired (or both) and are just hanging out, having that sort of conversation where you're not really sure if you're talking with someone or just at them:

Eddie, out of nowhere: ... It's not fair.

Curt: Mm?

Eddie: It's not fair. That I can't-- *mimes silently sharing something with the other man telepathically* -- y'know? Like I can with Venom. But with you. I gotta actually say stuff. Y'know?

Curt: Ah.

Eddie: Yeah. Yeah, and-- *breaks off to let out a loud, deep sigh while running a hand over his face* -- it's a lot. It really is.

Curt: It's alright.

Eddie: No, cause it's a lot, there's so much I wanna... wanna do it, say it, or whatever, but I... I gotta actually say it. Out loud. With words n'stuff. I can't just... feel it... Venom feels it, but I can't...

Curt, reaches over to idly pat Eddie's knee reassuringly: You don't have to say it.

Eddie: No? I don't?

Curt: No, you don't. You're right, it's a lot, but it's alright. I understand.

Eddie: It's a lot.

Curt: Mhmm.

Eddie: Yeah.

There's a long pause, where neither is sure if the other is still awake or not.

Eddie: ... But you're worth the effort? Right?

"I missed you," Eddie blurted out. His words caught them both by surprise; Curt's eyebrows shot up as his mouth briefly opened in a silent "oh", closing quickly before melting into a small smile, a stain of pink colored his cheeks. Eddie scrambled to keep talking as he felt his face warm to the same color. "It... we haven't had the chance to get together in a while. I've missed this. Missed you, being here."

The faint pink flamed into a rosy warmth across Curt's face, and the appreciation in his smile radiated in the silence. He wouldn't have taken the words back for anything; it felt so good to see him look so happy, and Eddie--

There was no way Eddie could ever ask for a blowjob now.

[What? Why not?]

Not with Curt looking like that.

Not without undoing all the good will he just did.

[You are being ridiculous. Curt would embrace the opportunity to bond closer]

Before Eddie could open his mouth, Venom had emerged and flashed Curt a charming smile from over his host's shoulder, before announcing out loud:

Surprise lit up Curt's expression again, but for a split second before he recovered with a polite mask of amusement, Eddie saw an open look of wry cynicism that said 'I should have known better'.

"...I see."

Shit.

[Ah. I apologize, Eddie, you were completely correct: that was not well received in the slightest]

Eddie looked down at his fidgeting hands and watched them twitch, not sure if they wanted to hide his face for him or wrap around Venom's non-existent neck.

"Well, as you said, it *has* been a while..." Curt allowed slowly as Venom retreated beneath Eddie's skin, having ruined the moment spectacularly once again in his overly-helpful way.

If Venom puppeted Eddie while he (mostly) asleep in order to make out with Curt, would that be somno or noncon?

(Just thinking about the finger breaking component of the eye vacuum trap in "Saw X"...)

At some point, Eddie and Curt are talking (maybe about the possibility of taking that motorcycle trip) and Eddie brings up how Val can pretty much perfectly mimic a human hand (except for matching skin tones), so why doesn't Curt have her do that for him all the time?

And Curt thinks about it for a moment, forms himself a right (green) hand, and they both take a good look at it.

"Yes," Curt agrees. "She does a phenomenal recreation-- "

Then he grabs two of the fingers with his left hand and violently wenches them backwards, bent past the point of breaking. Eddie winces, expecting to hear bones break, even tho he knows there aren't there to be broken.

Curt holds the right hand out, displaying the mangled fingers, clearly not phased and not in any pain, before giving his hand a shake to let it reform and move the fingers back into place.

" --but it isn't real," Curt finishes. Eddie feels a little unsettled by the whole thing, esp the cold, flat look in the other man's eyes. "And I want what is *mine*."

Eddie and Venom know that Peter occasionally gets hurt... but the first time they're there to witness it first hand, they freak out:

Peter sprays a bit of webbing to cover the stab wound while trying to reassure Eddie & Venom, but the make-shift bandage immediately starts to turn red

Peter: Relax, it's fine, they didn't hit anything vital--

Venom: *You* are vital!
