"Imagine Your S/I Was Canon…" Self-Ship Asks

🎞️: What "canon" scenes would the fandom point to as evidence for the validity of your ship?
As far as our appearance in Other M proper, as opposed to the spinoff novels I'm gonna write that'll detail and actually canonize our romance… When Samus finds us in Room MW, we're huddled close together, but we're hiding in a storage room large enough that we don't need to do that. And I know this fandom yearns for the yuri, look at the reaction to Nora in Prime 4! Even if they otherwise still ignore or bash the game in this hypothetical universe where my S/I is canon, there's no way they don't at least see that and go "hmmm, interesting…"
And then there'd be the data logs my S/I wrote that could be found throughout the game leading up to that point. They would allude to my long history with Madeline, admiration for her, and how much what she's been doing with her research is pushing me away from her. People are gonna read that and say that we're basically either having relationship problems or we're exes with lingering feelings for each other, which is hilarious because the novels will reveal that we only start dating for the first time after the events of the game.
Also, we both created an android together that sees Madeline as a mother figure. That feels like something people would bring up.
🌦️: Would you be accompanied by mostly fluff or angst fanfics? Both? Explain why.
From what I've seen of the sapphic ships in this fandom that don't involve Madeline, they seem to skew more cute and fluffy. Y'know, alongside acknowledgement that they're doomed. Then, when it comes to Madeline herself, when she does get acknowledged and paired with Samus, the fics I can remember from when I shipped them tended to be melancholic character studies even when they showed them being cute together.
So that's about the ratio I imagine Peyline would have: a pretty good mix of sweet fluff and bittersweet hurt/comfort instead of overt angst since neither of them are shown or implied to die in canon, with more fluff on the whole. Hopefully it'd be like the way I do Peyline fluff and still be deeply steeped in their angsty context, to make their eventual happiness even sweeter! It just wouldn't be nearly as compelling otherwise.
🪐: What would be your most popular AU and why?
I guess we'd be featured as supporting characters in Smash Bros fanworks? Those are more common than fics for Madeline's canon series, even, so it'd be the most popular by default. Besides, Madeline got a trophy in the fourth game, so my S/I would, too!
(That trophy is also technically inaccurate! The initials MB came before the name Melissa Bergman. Madeline's also not wearing her nametag projector, likely because it was a separate model in Other M's files if The Models Resource is to be believed. Fun facts no one cares about but me lmao)
I've thought a little about the crossover potential there, mainly the "oh my god I could be friends with my faves from so many different games!!" of it all. I'd be such a happy fangirl there if any of those games exist as games in my S/I's universe. Maybe we could mentor Tails, or be adoptive mother figures to Lucas and Claus, or get our own Pokémon partners!
Realistically, though, we'd only ever be written as the background ship to whatever Samus ship the author wants to focus on.
Although there is one crossover from there I could treat not even as an AU but as just canon. It simultaneously is the last one you'd expect and also somehow makes perfect sense.
But that's a conversation for another day.
