Like a Leaf in the Wind

Iason stepped out onto the balcony in the direction overlooking Ceres for the umpteenth time this week. He had just returned to the Apex tower after a black market auction in Midas, this time trading outdated weaponry to the lesser Commonwealth regions. And his pet has already left for a month.
A month. It hasn't been long, not even a quarter of the year of freedom he promised. But Riki's desperate run away from him played again in his mind. Was he that suffocating for the mongrel? No, it was Eos that was suffocating him. Iason rationalized, recalling how the black Vajra sung under his touch. He wanted to hear him again. He wanted to see Riki again. But he can be patient, ignoring the discomfort that came to his chest.
Paying no mind to the passing time, Iason watched the dancing lights of Midas and the dark shadows of Ceres, lost between his thoughts and heightened awareness of all the unwelcome feelings of not having Riki within reach.
