korys opinions on tara not immediately changing when she learned what happened to her
the titans treating tara as this weird "open secret" instead of all feeling immensely guilty that something was going on and they didnt help (goes double for dick + donna imo)
any superhero acting ooc to victim blame a child bc the writer has biases they wont let go of
it seems. very out of character for the titans (many of whom are canonical sa or grooming victims themselves) to be treating Terra… like … that. I know why bc dc is a nasty ass company with a mandate to make her a villain but goddamnit they would not say That. I’m not even saying this bc I like them or want to excuse their actions, idccccc none of them would say That or think That about her idc idc idc 😭 I don’t know why DC doesn’t know that in the big year of 2025 this makes their darlings look baddddd. Why can literally every other character get some sort of empathy, some chance at redemption and it’s the teenage girl who is forever the evil one in this story. whyyyy
NO EXACTLY!
(this turned out really long so i put a cut ;w;)
its the same thing as starlin batman where its like woah why is batman suddenly so evil. why are the titans suddenly so evil to make tara look bad! it feels wrong and forced. i will sometimes even warn people like "dont judge the titans from how they act with tara!" lol.
i especially hate the scene that gets reposted as a joke all the time where taras like "how many of you have lived with terrorists?!" and starfire is like "i was a slave for years" and raven says "we all have experienced struggle" or whatever. it just makes me go like... what? because its so obvious the guys creating the comic wanted a moment where they showed the good women(tm) donna, raven, starfire talk about how they just powered through their struggles and were never a nasty bitch about it of course!! another example being like how tara acts with beast boy vs how the other women act with beast boy, they take his harassment as a joke while she gets mad and fights back. good for her. shes right.
...maybe im digging too deep into it, but the implications that tara was dealing with her trauma the wrong way always felt so wrong to me. her lashing out and having understandably emotional reactions to the things that happened to her was what made me love her in the first place!
& i definitely, definitely agree that in this day n age its unbelievable to still victim blame her or try to buy into the idea that tara is ~fundamentally intrinsically evil~ or whatever. like why are they even trying that still... its not even that she needs to be redeemed necessarily, but the fact that shes treated as if she cant be. if that makes sense. with how comics work, i dont expect certain villains to be redeemed permanently, but i think the heroes should still have compassion and act like its possible. especially if said villain wasnt even that bad and was a kid who was being manipulated!!! they should not hate her as much as they do! it makes them look bad!
the tides have changed recently too. lots of casual fans hate deathstroke for what he did, and people who dont know the plot of judas contract react like "wtf thats so messed up" especially when they learn how tara died. right now is the perfect time to have a story with an in character tara and still have audiences (at least some) sympathize with her!!! augh! i think the judas contract animated movie was close but not perfect. the shipping thing just ruins every terra story.
um so anyway after all that, yeah they wouldnt say that. justice for terra she shouldve been allowed to murder if they were gonna treat her so bad anyway. 🪨🪨🪨
i don't really read modern titans comics is dc still really pulling that shit with terra.. maybe we should start throwing rocks at editorial..
oh yeah -_- being a victim to a predator makes raven think someones irredeemable i guess. because truly what did she do? betray the titans when she just turned 16 and was being manipulated? what else?? with how shes talked about youd think she blows up orphanages or something.
i havent been reading modern titans stuff either, other than this one bc i learned terra was gonna show up. idk what i expected when i already wasnt really enjoying this series, but after "the other stories of the dc universe" thing (below) i figured writers would have more grace when handling her.
(not the whole thing, this is a cropped version for space lol)
but i could rant about tara forever sorry, i will hold myself back lol 😭
more reducing tara down to stupid bbrae vs bbterra bs that i hate... also
girl what??? shes really that much of a threat you had to emphasize it like that? compared to other criminals like mass murderers and stuff?? thats crazy, she was literally a victim. plus she didnt even end up killing any of the titans. this writing of raven is making me hate her lmao -_- maybe its just cause im already mad about the constant reduction of taras character down to BOY DRAMA. i stg these 2 are nottt passing the bechdel test. tt03 is evil for making those 2 ships an actual thing.
BUT ANYWAY
THERE SHE ISSSSS!!!!! my beautiful princess with a disorder!! i hope shes out of that stupid tube soon and i hope she has a role other than "beast boy ex" or the one getting victim blamed cause im tired of it -_-💢💢💢
i really love how in dark multiverse judas contract, dick and wally are kid flash and robin when they die together. they died before becoming flash and nightwing, before reaching their fullest potential, just like how in the original judas contract tara died before ever fully reaching hers. its such a good parallel...
