I finally got motivation to draw something ;0; so I design PastLife!Martyn

yapping about the designing process and past life thoughts below

additional design notes (for mainly Martyn, others are subject to change):

thank you cherrifire for giving us Martyn w/ Cleo's sweater idea, I had to add that in somehow ;w;

the lost gen gets the smoke/steam/cloud motifs in both Martyn's headband and Cleo's hair (I love to incorporate the alliance into the designs and also having each design have a different indicator on which life they're on)

I honestly could not find a secondary Listener symbol like how the Watchers have the eyes, so I just made kinda a swirl to symbolize ears

erm I usually like having the main designs be the same or very similar to their skins and just add on top instead of designing a whole different outfit (except the gluten guys apparently)

I jammed to Korean period drama instrumental osts during this, would highly recommend

my late night thoughts for past life:

absolutely one of my fav seasons not just bc one of my main povs won (I was in the trenches when Ren and Martyn were both red early on;;)

I really missed the man vs. man conflicts and interactions like the earlier seasons esp third/last life, and super glad it returned (although would be really interesting if the no teaming up w/ Reds rule comes back in the future)

the parallels to other seasons is so good, I am fed

I enjoyed catching some of Martyns's training streams before the sessions

also I wonder where the Past Life fragment would be on Martyn

thinking about the song "How People Move" by AKMU as a TADC AMV in the perspective of Caine with his love of humans

designed Martyn's Red Winter design bc I forgot to do that while watching Nice Life and never showed the original designs too oops (below and some design process yap)

here it is! I made these for a zine a while back and def Ren needs some rework since I designed them close to their actual skins but I want to add more creative liberty on my end since that is half the fun

I designed this before Past Life's Martyn, so the design on the headband carried over from here originally. Along with that, I added the bandages to add to the Naruto ninja aspect of his design.

I enjoy the idea of having at least subtle differences for each season, so 3rd!Martyn gets the shadow over his eyes like on his skin and the more "souless" eyes bc I thought it would be a nice touch and kinda an intimidating look idk Also, 3rd! gets the less poofy hair, no ahoge, and no signs of facial hair (although how I draw it it's barely there in the first place) bc the Life series just started and thought this is a nice starting point.

originally I wanted to stick closer to Martyn's actual red skin, but as I incorporated the blue from the Red Winter axe, it gave the contrast I was looking for. so I added more blue throughout. I'm conflicted to add blue/blue-ish tint to Ren to harmonize their designs together, but I might accentuate the gold more when I redesign him later, we'll see

oh and there is hearts on him: the clasps (with one being a different color haha), the three on his left shoulder, and the three on the axe

I do not want to admit how long all this took, so I am gonna laugh instead hehe

p.s. I just thought the gloves should change color...just maybe
