Taking a break from the NovNov 2025 hijinks to draw some fan characters because I'm sad.

Here are some of the things I'm learning so far for NovNov:

Do not go into an outline with the least interesting plot and expect yourself to follow it line to line in the first draft. Because you won't fucking do it.

Sometimes all a chapter needs is some sibling love to hit your word count.

You are not the authors you pursue to be. Let that shit go. (Katherine Applegate is cool and all, but I am not her.)

NovNov in the morning sucks. But you must remember that most people are freaks and will wake up at that time regardless of if you cannot.

Sprints are only nice if the person running it isn't fostering stress in you the minute you get there.

Set a goal every day for what you will do for your writing. Even if it's simple.

Queer kids lives matter and if people feel weirded out because god forbid your characters like queer media and there's shipping in it, they fucking suck ass and you should stop talking to them immediately.

Writertok will make you want to kill yourself. But fuck them.

Ellipsus is a god send.
