This sounds different to what we do and therefore it's obviously super difficult and weird and no WONDER this problem happened in the first place so you shouldn't worry :)
It's like an old school petrol station near my house so it's convenient. I managed to speak to someone who works there today and got my €20 back. Hoozah!

What happened?
I pressed the pump number before I put my money in so basically I was trying to pump petrol but nothing was coming out because the machine didn't know where to dispense the petrol. IT WAS REALLY STUPID. OMFG. My parents expect me to survive on my own and yet my first instinct was to call my dad hahahahaha.
