Day 3: The Qunari
«Mommy, can you tell me a story?»
«Which one, Kadan?»
«My favorite one!»
The woman laughed at her little child, a spunky little thing whose horns had barely grown. She sat down at the side of her bed.
«Once upon a time, during a rebellion... »
She was tired, blood coming down the holes around her lips, the string, which once forced her, torn.
I will never be chained again.
These words bounced in her mind, giving her the strength to run away, and free.
Eyes focused on the horizon, arms cutted in multiple parts by the tree branches.
I will never be bound again.
Dirt, blood, tears, washed away her vitaar. She didn´t care.
Strong, deep voices coming from behind, far away but also too close. She had to flee, to run faster and escape from this prison.
Sharp pain in her legs, head, chest, body.
I am free.
She stopped and turned, an angry but determined expression on her face. Her hands, previously closed at fist, now open.
Saarebas, “dangerous thing”.
And fire creating from her palms, she casted a spell, powered by her anger and her fear.
And she screamed.
She screamed from the bottom of her lungs.
She couldn't hear their voices anymore, she couldn't hear anything but her scream.
Seconds, minutes, hours. She didn´t know.
Calmed now, she watched everything burn around her.
She took a deep breath, closed her hands.
And she turned back to her direction and runned away.
Free.
She looked down, her little girl was already sleeping. The woman smiled, the holes around her lips now multiple scars. And looking at her daughter, she remebered it was all worth it.
