The "gift" could be heard well before it arrived. The smell of the sea was overwhelming. As it broke into the main chamber, the giant squid bellowed its rage at being turned loose in such an unfamiliar and dry place, tentacles lashing out at anything close. The lucky ones were bludgeoned to death. The unlucky were yanked into its clacking maw. Tied to the base of the thickest tentacle was a note. "I owe you a sacrifice. I hope this will do. I know you enjoy playing with your food."
As it happened, the Priestess-General was receiving audiences when the “gift” arrived. She had been in the process of being thoroughly bored by some puffed up merchant-prince who had thought to seek assistance from Khar Telva. Sestia had been considering the merits of opening the man’s belly for any sort of relief from the stammered figures and sums he proposed, when her idle musings were interrupted by the crash of stone and yells of alarm from her personal guard.
A slimy tentacle lashed out, coiling about the human. It squeezed, and the shrieking merchant practically burst. In a mere matter of seconds, a half dozen of her guards were dead - crushed by writhing tentacles or swallowed whole by the beast’s beaked maw.
A squid. A massive squid, at that.
“Finally,” Sestia exclaimed, reaching for a jeweled goblet to one side of her throne. “A visitor that knows how to entertain us, sisters!”
Draining the witchbrew in a single gulp, the Priestess-General hefted her glaive from the rack built into her seat. The blood-elixir’s effects took hold immediately, a singing rush of adrenaline that shot through her form and threw a red haze over her vision.
With an exhilarated laugh and a whirl of her witch-glaive, Sestia Bloodsinger charged the beast.
I shall have to thank the Squallborn Prince for such a thoughtful gift.

Mud and grime slicked the Asur mage’s dress as she was tied up and bundled up on the deck of the Druchii raider’s vessel. Bound with magical chains to stop her casting she stared up at two corsair’s who goaded the she-elf on many a topic - how they planned to either sell her off, ransom her or keep her around for their own entertainment. Any and all of those options were horrific to consider.
She struggled and fought against her bindings to no avail, her anger and struggle only causing the Corsair’s more mirth. The crew of the vessel she had been travelling on were all either dead or were also captured as slaves, being dragged below the deck for fates she dared to not imagine. She however had been kept up deck for the captain to decide what to do with her, an Asur mage and a pretty one at that, what a prize she was...
Their torment of her only continued as one of the Druchii began to pull at her dress, tearing some of the fabric before being pushed off by his companion chastising him how displeased the captain would be if he got first touch... tears began to ball up in Diamariel’s eyes as she bit down on her gag to try fight them back.
Suddenly there was a rumble across the ship as the corsair’s suddenly drew frantic. Yelling at each other they all pulled away as carnage was wrought upon the vessel. Catching a glimpse between the hurried marching of the pirates she could see another ship pulling closer and opening fire on the Dark elven vessel.
Possible deliverance?

All other realm gates remained quiet, yet as if it were an act of instinct Ysbryd’s attention was quickly drawn here, to the gate that lead to Ghyran. It was a peculiar thing, after all nothing problematic ever came from this gate. The Slyvaneth of that realm were contented to stay among the green woods and glens of their homeland and not travel here, to the dark and misty realm of Ulgu. So then who?
Usually such a disturbance would have only been felt from the more troublesome realms such as Shyish. But today that gate was quiet, and this one stirred.
Darkened pools fixated on the swirling vortex of the gate, like a predator waiting to pounce, and not long would she have to wait. A figure came striding, haughty and proud was his disposition. Yet welcomed this noble creature was not. The gate’s guardian Stood to attention, dark wings outstretched as she took her flight, circling him as if a great raptor stalking a mouse.
