I think these writers were fans who wanted to see their favourite characters as fanfiction. That's what this show is giving at this point.

Yeah, its all getting out of hand and to be honest, the biggest red flag is how much George hates it.

For one, it validates most of the fans feelings but also the idea of what is to come next.

Agreed! Very interesting to see his and Alys' storyline play out - especially with how wild they got with Daemon.
