I have now had at least one lecture from each of my modules this year and these are my first impressions;
Seems simple so far but apparently it ramps up fast as we are expected to have previous programming knowledge. It’s learning C# which I have a base knowledge of from my previous work in Unity. I like that we are working with GUI’s and not just in the console now
The lecturer is awful, English isn’t their first language, they talk to quickly, they don’t explain things well, I think they’re using someone else’s slides as they kept having to stop to read through them before they spoke. Also I couldn’t work out if the slides were wring or what she was saying was wrong as she implied that 32 bits was less than 3 bytes and at one point she said BBS and FBS were back side bus and front side bus then later they were written BSB and FSB which makes more sense. Furthermore the subject itself seems very similar to the Computer Systems module last year which I also found very boring and hard to follow.
When I read the title of this module it sounded really boring, and I wasn’t by any means looking forward to it. We have a table on one of the white boards that colour codes how good people think the modules are and I was surprised to see this one was coloured green for good, however, I then met our lecturers. Andrew I’d had before and I knew he was an entertaining lecturer, but I expected the other guy to be a bore, I was wrong though, they both stayed through each others lectures and made comments throughout, they were incredibly entertaining and informative and definitely the best lectures I’ve had. It may be a boring subject matter, but I think with these two as lecturers it will be an enjoyable experience... I just wish they’d lecture for Systems and Services too...
