I'd like to appologize for the wall of text, tumblr removes breaks in my paragraphs now. Maybe i can break that, too. Let's talk about a real hot subject- the new "tango" land cycle. I've seen some talk going around about if these lands will hit the eternal formats, and on if they are good enough for play. To really know if these will, we have to look at what the current mana base is. Let's look at the manabase for what I know the best: Modern. The moden mana base is comprised of mostly fetch lands and the Ravinca shock dual lands, with some minor support from the filter cycle, the check lands, and the taplands. The most likely replacement option is going to be the taplands. Taplands Are a nonbasic land cycle that comes into play tapped unless you control a basic land that is the same colour as the tapland. This effect is incredibly simular to the effects of the new tango lands, which require two basic lands to enter untapped. The main difference: Tangoland can be fetched. This simple fact is exactly why this cycle will see modern play, especially with the popularity of cracking fetch lands at the end of an opponents turn. As well, as standard players begin to move to modern, these are the duals that many new players, and those that didnt get or keep shocks, will have. Tango lands will see some eternal play, but to what extend remains to be seen. They are obviously not as tool kit as shocks, but can serve a very decisive role- with out life loss.

BFZ Dual Lands-Tango Lands

The new BFZ dual lands shall be called tango lands, and that’s final!
