Reasons I play Tank:

I get to be the center of (enemy) attention

I get to live out my personal fantasy of getting to protect my friends and loved ones from pain and danger, satisfying that deep psychological need and filling me with a sense of meaning and worth

I get a giant axe like in anime

My first organic, 100% hand-leveled tank class at 100. I got almost no good screens of the last few levels, so here's... whatever this is because it shows off the short shorts, boob window and heels that are the most crucial part of my toucan token tank glam.

I'm almost sorry the leveling is over because I haven't had this much fun leveling anything in a good long while.

I never used to do Trial or Normal Raid rous as healer or DPS because 9/10 times, I'd get get one that I'd never done outside the MSQ and/or couldn't remember the mechanics to.  And then I'd embarrass myself with by doing terrible DPS, dying and getting people killed. But its different with a tank and I actually love it. I feel almost like being a tank is my license to be a dumbass. Don't remember the mechanics? Just face the boss away from everyone, sidestep the orange, pop a mit when things go south, do your 1-2-3 combos. And that's when you're MT, its even less work as OT (except maybe when you have to pull a few adds) and if you're OT and the MT dies? You get to be the big damn hero valiantly throwing yourself in harm's way to protect everyone. Worried about being dead last in DPS? You won't even notice because your tank stance means you're always #1! You're so far behind you can delude yourself into thinking you're in first place! Hurr durr I'm an idiot sandwich and vulnerability up stacks are just condiments to me because TAAAAANNNNNK.

After discovering this over 10 years into my tenure in this game, I think I've now moved fully into my "I'm too old to care" phase.  Well, as much as someone with too much anxiety to talk to anyone in OR out of game can be in that phase. I'm still doing the best I can and paying attention in fights, but I just can't bring myself to care about endgame anymore.  I don't want to farm tomes or raid tokens or EX mounts, or worry about pentamelds or BiS, or perfect my rotation. I just want to do whatever stupid little shit amuses me, and as long as I'm not causing problems for anyone else, I can live with that.
