Edinburgh, The Meadows

In potentially the hottest UK summer on record, Edinburgh has fared well for a city known to be meterologically challenged. Throughout this spell of unusually good weather, the Meadows is a favourite hangout for what seems like the entire population of the city. Tesco’s £5 disposable barbeques burn patches into the grass as friends gather around the blinding smoke to drink beers and eat crisps and Sainsbo’s tray bakes. The Meadows is also a preferred sunbathing destination with many donning bikinis despite a distinct absence of water. A sunny day is an event, not to be wasted, unlike in NZ where you can only spend 20 minutes appreciating the sun before burning to a crisp.
