Five times Logan almost kissed Tara @thelightxwithin
1. Their friendship was a flirtation. He had been from the very fight night, when Tara had welcomed Logan to the precinct with open arms. On that first night, Logan thought that something might happen between them, but she chickened out on that night, and ever since, their relationship was just a friendship. A flirtation, but still, just friends. When Logan walked into the office to find Office Lewis sitting on her desk, talking to Max about Logan had no idea what, Logan simply walked into the room. She placed her paperwork on the side of the desk since Tara was dead center. Logan sat down in her chair, causing Tara to turn to face her. Tara’s feet moved to the few inches of free space on either side of Logan in her chair. Logan looked up at the officer. Nothing was said, they just looked at each other for a moment. Oh how easy it would be to simply stand up and kiss the other woman. Max coughed, probably reminding the two of them that they weren’t alone, and Logan shook herself out of her thoughts. The door opened and out of habit Logan stood to attention, suddenly finding herself standing between Tara’s legs, looking down into her face. Angela arched an eyebrow at Max, then headed toward her own desk. Logan let out a nervous laugh. God they were so close. Again the door opened, this time it was Meredith and Adriena, this time, Tara moved, pushing Logan back gently before hopping off the desk and leaving the office. She always seemed to do that the moment Detective Anerson walked in.
2. It was Logan’s first week in New York. The night after her first day at the precinct and she had already been invited out for drinks. When Officer Lewis first invited her out, Logan thought it was going to be a group thing, but when she realized that it was just going to be her and the gorgeous officer Logan wondered if she had maybe actually misread the signs and was on a date. The entire night, Logan was stuck in her own head, wondering if she was on a date with Tara or not. She was too chicken to ask, so instead she drank. She drank more than her body was used to, knowing that she was going to be hung over at work the next day. Tara’s calm and flirty behavior made Logan nervous. Nervous in a good way, but still. As they left the bar, Logan hailed a taxi. This was it, this would be the moment. As the yellow cab pulled up, Logan got the door for Tara. They lingered for a moment, and Logan’s heart sped up. Kiss her! Her drunken inner voice screamed. Logan shook Tara’s hand, then sent her away, before calling a taxi for herself.
3. “You are beautiful,” Tara said out of the blue, leaving Logan speechless in that moment. There they were, drunk in a hammock in the back of the club, snuggling and talking about random deep shit. Logan had no idea what made Tara say that. They were in the middle of talking about fate, and whether anyone really had a choice in life or if they're lives were already decided for them by some divide pattern. Logan was going to tell Tara about her crash, and how her life had changed completely in just one night, but her thought process was completely derailed by Tara’s compliment. Logan smirked, and laughed lightly through her nose. Was Tara looking at her lips? Logan swallowed. They were so close. Logan wondered if Tara could feel her heartbeat, because to her, it was pounding louder than the bass in the club music. Logan tried to build the courage to close the distance between them, but before she could Tara looked away and took Logan’s hand. Logan gave Tara’s hand a small squeeze, then the conversation moved easily to a different subject.
4. Logan and Meredith were sitting in Meredith’s car in the parking lot of the precinct. “If you like her so much, why don’t you just tell her?” Meredith asked. “I could ask you the same thing you know,” Logan countered. Meredith scrunched her nose. “Adriena is my boss. People already think I made it onto the team so quickly because of my mother, if they found out that Adriena and I. . . and that’s even assuming that she feels the same way,” “Oh, she feels the same way,” “Stop, you don’t know her. To her I’m just some young pup, who already fucked up once. When she sees me, she sees the detective who almost died after going against her orders, or she sees the drunk, who needs her to tuck them in a night.” Meredith shook her head. “You’re being too hard on yourself, Webster,” Logan said. “I really don’t think that’s what Detective Anderson sees when she looks at you.” Meredith shrugged. “Alright, so we know what’s stopping me, you’re turned.” Logan frowned as Tara and her partner Officer Johnson came out of the building and walked toward their squad car. She thought about getting out of the car, walking across the parking lot and just kissing Tara right then and there, but she didn’t move. “It’s complicated.” It always was.
5. During her first week on the job, Tara had made sure to show Logan where all the good snacks were hidden in the precinct. So when Meredith voiced a craving for chocolate, Logan told her that she’ be right back. She left her office to find the basement break room. She found Tara and Jo in there laughing about something or another, sharing a box of cookies. The two looked like a happy couple. Logan’s jealousy flared inside her, but she kept a calm expression as she came into the room. “Is the chocolat stock still good?” she asked. Jo nodded, then pointed her in the right direction before bringing her attention back to Tara. She laughed and touched her partner's arm. Logan’s insides churned at the sight of their innocent contact. For a split second, she thought about marching over there and kissing Tara on the mouth, but the impulse left as quickly as it came, and Logan brought the chocolate back to Meredith.
