MegaTarn is literally everything that MegaStar haters accuse MegaStar of being, but I've never seen anyone harassed for shipping it, there's no discourse over it, none of that. Which makes me think the objections to MegaStar are really just classic shipping war nonsense disguised as a moral crusade. "My ship is better than yours and here's why!!!!" kind of shit. MegaTarn isn't popular enough to be seen as a "threat" to other, more popular ships involving either of those characters, so it doesn't get attacked even though the canon dynamic there is abusive as fuck.

(And to be clear I am not saying anyone SHOULD start harassing MegaTarn shippers, that is not the point of this. The point I'm trying to make is that shipping wars are dumb and shipping discourse is dumb and also 99% of shipping discourse is just shipping wars in disguise but no one wants to admit it.)

I have an issue with Pharma apologists. The worst apologists will blame Ratchet for Pharma but ship Tarnma. Or excuse Pharma’s actions with “oh he was just trying to save people” when he wound up trying to kill EVERYONE and save himself with his rust plague.

“Pharma didn’t deserve that!”

He’s a fictional character whose narrative purpose was to be an antagonist and symbolize medicine gone wrong. If anything, his patients who died from the bioweapon he made didn’t deserve what he did.

“But Ratchet was a bad friend took his hands!”

Pharma was trying to kill Ratchet so I don’t give a damn. Also you think that justifies torturing someone instead of just stealing back those hands? Sawing Ambulon in half?

Frankly, the second most hateful thing about Pharma is how he never goes after Tarn, the direct root of his suffering, but on people who trusted him, who were Autobots like him. But the first hate thing are his fans who justify his actions.

Wish more people drew more post-80s G1 continuity characters in the Sunbow or Marvel styles- I saw one really good Sunbow Pharma and a Marvel style Tarn, but man do I really really want a full Sunbow DJD somewhere out in the world.

Adding to this, I remember one or two people saying that a Sunbow Tarn's pre-Decepticon identity would be Dion from War Dawn and they're so so right

Continuity soup guy again, I need to get this out too while I‘m at it:

I hate Tarn and Overlord and Pharma.

They‘re all well-written characters, don‘t get me wrong, they‘re just, well, made to be really evil and despicable so I feel pretty justified for not liking them very much.

And I get that a lot of people love Tarn and Pharma specifically because of how complex they are (especially Tarn), and frankly because of how unapologetically TERRIBLE they behave, all the more power to you.

I just absolutely despise them,,

(Also not a fan of MTMTE Megatron, but I‘ve seen multiple other people talk about the issues with his character way better than I ever could so I‘ll just leave it at that. And thanks again for the existence of this blog, wish you all the best!)

Why oh why did they have to waste such a perfect character design on Tarn. Fucking hate that guy. How come he gets to have both kitty ears AND PAWS. So fucking cute and for what. Absolutely despicable.
