So big question: do you feel like you are more restricted with the gen 6 "sprites" or do you feel like you have more options now with getting screens of the poses at the right times and stuff? It's just a curiosity I've had for a bit.
At the moment, I feel a bit more restricted than with 2D sprites because of the lack of resources. I only have the still frames off Serebii (see this post for all these links), and beyond that I have to steal a frame out of the gifs on Pkparaíso. I don’t have anything of my own that can grab stuff out of the games, so any attack animations that haven’t been published yet are unusable for now :/
I also have far less experience with 3D sprites, obviously, and they’re waaaaay more complex than the 2D sprites. When I didn’t have something in 2D, I could normally free-hand it, and I can draw my own scratch sprites in 2D with decent quality on average. With 3D sprites, I’d have to figure out cel shading or something x_x
That all being said, I think I prefer working with the 3D sprites over 2D now. Not only does it feel strange trying to work with the 2D versions already, but I also like the more realistic look to them, that sense of lighting and cohesiveness that makes them seem like real objects and not just a flat image.
