This is the final, and posted, version of prose--I think that's the right word--about Ruby's death in Tarnished Silver. First Yang's PoV, then Weiss' PoV.

0o0o0o0 Yang’s Grief

I'm dying. Your wounds are mine and my tears coat your cheeks. My lungs burn, the ice of your skin soaking into my bones.

All I see is red. All I feel is a cold weight. Dragging me down into the dirt.

I'll never catch my breath again. Never hear yours. Never again feel warmth, yours or mine…

Did you know? That there was a price for being heroes? That our reckless dreams would have a cost?

I can't pay this. Please. I can't.

You’re my baby sister and I can't let you go...

I'm dying. I can’t let you go… Ice in my chest and fire in my lungs. The grief and rage never lets me sleep.

Everything I wear is sticky. Cold. Weighed down from carrying you home.

I open the door and go to your room. I fall on your mattress, looking for any other weight or warmth.

But you're not there.

So I chase you. I run and launch myself 'round corners, because-

Come home! Come back! I can't-

I can't let you go…

I'm tired. I’m cold and my tears scald my cheeks. My wounds are yours and finally—I don't want to go but I can’t I can't stay—I stop.

I'm sorry. I couldn't ever let you go.

I'm here, I'm here! Where are you…?

I missed you.

I never let you go. Never. I was following you even when I thought I was leading. I chased your shadow until there was nothing else but red and black.

Let's go home. Please... I missed you.

I can’t let you go.

I hold you in my arms, cold and heavy. You soak into my clothes, my skin.

I sob until my throat is raw. I cry until all I see are blurs.

Why, oh why, couldn’t it have been me.

I can’t carry you like this. I can’t! Lead in my veins and blood in my lungs.

I don’t know what to do, where to go. How can I look anywhere but your face?

I’m dying. Ruby! Please, just look at me. Ruby, please!

How can I let you go, when I never wanted to say goodbye…

I can’t let you go. I never wanted to.

I can’t sleep, all I see is how you stained me. Red coats my vision, my hands. Terror and rage in my veins and in my lungs.

I stare at your door, choking on blood that isn’t there. I stare at your door, fighting to breathe.

I’m chasing your dream, it’s all I have left.

Because all I see is a hole where you should be.

Can you see me?

Can you hear me?

I’m… I’m doing okay, now. I still can’t let you go, but… But I’m not so lost, now.

I’m sorry I couldn’t save your sister. I think… I don’t think she could live without you. I don’t know how I lived without you… But I did…

“Hello, Sweetheart.” “Hello, Love.”

Can you forgive me, for that? For living? For finding someone I want to live for?

He misses you too, in his own way.

It’s not so heavy, now. I can breathe, and sleep. I can tuck my children in bed, kiss my husband good night.

But I can’t let you go.

I thought it would hurt. I didn’t expect it to be like falling asleep.

“Is Firebrand around?” “She’s never far.”

The original poem is amazing, slowly blacking out lines to change how it is read. I didn't feel confident I could mimic that, so I hope this is good enough.

Had a wonder as to how different characters in my two big RWBY fics would react to each other; the fics being the NobleTheft series and the Fruit Loops AU.

Spoilers and blurb under the cut.

So with Tarnished Silver posted and several chapters of Regrets and Love up, plus the NobleTheft Omake, and my slow working on editing/rewriting/continuing Fruit Loops… I had been imagining Weiss seeing glimpses of other AUs.

And after writing the drabble of Weiss Torchwick meeting alternate—canon—versions of herself, and the drabble of her meeting Ruby’s daughter from a different timeline, I wondered how Weiss and Roman of Tarnished Silver would react to Ruby and Roman of Fruit Loops.

Which led to the following really short snippet, which has been eating my brain alive for the last 18hrs since I wrote it.

“You know..." Weiss murmurs, glancing up at her Roman before looking across at 'Ruby' and the other 'Roman', "I don't think I'm all that surprised…"

Roman, her Roman—the man who gave her four beautiful children before they found themselves back in time—stands beside her with his arm over her shoulder, supporting her as she leans into his side. She knows his other hand is on his hip, close to his tonfa.

Across from them are Ruby—she thinks it’s Ruby, if an older one than she ever got to see—and another Roman. But a… a harder Roman. Darker, maybe. But not dark, not like Adam Taurus or Cinder Fall had been. Just… Weiss holds back a frown, watching the two.

‘Ruby’ leans back into ‘Roman’, her arms loosely crossed as she watches with guarded curiosity. This other Roman stands just behind her, his hands deep in the pockets of his signature white coat with Melodic Cudgel hanging from his elbow, head tilted down enough so only his right eye and his smirk are visible from under his hat and bangs; a very… predatory smirk, Weiss thinks.

Obviously it’s not complete, and only shows Weiss impressions. A full version would, I think, include Ruby’s impressions; echoing or contrasting Ruby’s thoughts against Weiss’ thoughts.
