KNAVE OF SWORDS & SEVEN OF WANDS

When people feel the need to show their strength, they often do that by trying to one up someone else or get combative. Today’s cards suggest that we can showcase strength by highlighting our vulnerabilities. The PAGE OF SWORDS evokes the innocence of a child. Because of their size and stature, there’s only so much damage a child can cause, so we tend to feel less threatened by them. But in this picture, the child is bigger than we are. Sometimes there is strength is making ourselves seem small.

One way to think of the SEVEN OF WANDS is as the “haters gonna hate” card. Here we see a single man defending himself against a crowd of assailants. Behind them, smoke billows from the sky, revealing the fire of conflict and anger. Remain lucid and do not allow anger to cloud your logic. Are the people you perceive as your enemies really who you think they are? When we are looking at a situation from inexperienced eyes, we are prone to misinterpret what we see. Instead of allowing haters to get under your skin, consider whether there is anything that could they teach you? You can make friends of enemies by remaining open to a change of mind about who people are.

Weekend #Tarot for August 5-6, 2016 ACE OF SWORDS Rx, SEVEN OF WANDS & FOUR OF SWORDS Rx Sometimes we need to turn ourselves off and quiet the “noise” of the mind so that we can stay on top of everything that we have fought for. This weekend calls for a pause in communication to rethink your ideas and the intended messages that you are trying to get across. Staying on top of your game depends on crafting the right message. As the central card, the SEVEN OF WANDS shows that the focus of this weekend is on maintaining your status and the elevated position that you have worked so hard for. The 7W shows that the sweet moment of victory that we enjoyed in the Six of Wands can't last forever. Before too long, someone is looking to replace you. The 7W embodies the phrase, “haters gonna hate.” When you are playing at a certain level, there will always be jealous folks looking to knock you off your high ground. Flanked by Air cards, the 7W represents a struggle to stay on top of your communications with the people “below” on account of a lack of fresh material. The ACE OF SWORDS Rx signifies new ideas and ways of thinking and perceiving. The horse and rider in the background of this card can also be found on the “Rider” card of the Lenormand deck, suggesting that this is about the giving and receiving of messages. In the reversed position, the AS shows that we are at risk of sending the wrong message if we don't take a break (4S Rx) from the constant “doing” of things (7W). The FOUR OF SWORDS Rx shows a scene of mental relaxation, where we can just “be.” This card is often associated with meditation, or clearing out of the “monkey chatter” that distracts us from attaining the higher-order consciousness that leads to enlightenment.
