The album is named after the Chott El Djerid, a vast salt lake in southern Tunisia, and blends traditional instruments with contemporary electronic textures, drawing lines between past and present with heat and landscape marking his production style. It’s shaped by contrasting atmospheres, from those that are minimalistic and melancholy and others that are more raw and intense.
He incorporates personal materials throughout, such as vocal samples from family members, which add layers of intimacy and cultural depth.
