the girls have been alone together a long time, the time spent together surprisingly more enjoyable than most of beth’s life before all of this. it wasn’t that their lives were good now, but that they had each other. that’s what was truly good and enjoyable about all of this. despite all the bad, they had the good in each other, and that was enough.
it’s a cold night in a cold house, no more than five walkers outside occasionally banging into the doors or the walls. the place they had was good, for now at least. an old country home, the doors barricaded shut and the windows boarded up. nothing could see in, but from the upstairs bedroom the girls could see out. they had no quick escape, but they didn’t need it. the dead had tried to get in once or twice, but they gave up before it got dangerous or worrying. the house was a fortress and the blondes were it’s queens.
as the pair lay in the single double bed darkness fills the room, a single streak of moonlight coming through the curtains though it doesnt give the room any extra light. “you awake?” it’s whispered, but still madisons voice fills the room, somehow managing to be louder than the groans outside. “yeah” it’s spoken near silently as beth rolls onto her side to face the other blonde.
the next few hours are spent switching between silence and conversation about the past, about the way things once were. the topic somehow gets to relationships, and at one point beth thinks to herself ‘back then I thought I was straight’, though she’d never say that aloud, just in case madison didn’t feel the same. it was strange, that even after the world ended beth developed a crush on someone she barely knew. but she did know madison. maybe she didn’t know the girls high school or her first pets name or her address before things went bad, but she knew what every subtle facial expression meant, and she knew how to tell when madison was nervous ( which she was, though beth equated that to the unending moans of the dead ) and she knew that the girl was the only reason beth was still alive.
beth never could’ve survived all of this alone, and she couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. madison kept her grounded, kept her aware that everything here is real. but she also brought out the humanity that beth had thought she lost. life almost felt normal when the two just sat in bed together and talked. some nights, when the world was really silent, beth would awaken in the night and it would take a few minutes for her to realize that the apocalypse hadn’t been a dream. being with madison felt real, and it seemed as though suddenly life before all this had been missing something. as if god had made this mess just so the two of them could be together, the rest of the world be damned. but beth knew better than that. the pair had been lucky, but if god was really up there he certainly wasn’t routing for the pair.
the room had been silent a few seconds before madisons lips were pressed softly against beths. it’s not until the girl pulls back that beth noticed that the sun had started to come up, madisons face ( and the nervousness the girl clearly felt ) finally visible. there’s a second between when their lips part and when beth pushes them together again, no worry about the moans or the gentle bangs outside, the rest of the world melting away around them. beth had found her other half in madison, but it wasnt until their lips pressed together that she realized just how much she’d been missing before madison came along. her first kiss with a girl ( quickly followed by her second ) and it was more perfect than anything she ever could’ve imagined, even when the rest of the world was as far from perfect as it ever could’ve been. maybe god - if he was there - was looking out for them.

continued from here
The desire to kiss Beth had been there almost as long as she’d known the girl but she’d always managed to hold herself back. Survival and keeping each other’s spirits up from day to day were always the most important things and Madison had just allowed herself to believe romance was a thing of the past - there was simply no room for it anymore. She also didn’t want to risk doing something so stupid and losing the only person in the world she had left – she’d rather have her best friend than the physical intimacy that she’d gone so long without. It was torture because she’d never been as attracted to anyone as she was the younger girl and suppressing those emotions ate at her every day – every time she looked at Beth. She consoled herself with the fact that her friend had been a good girl before all this happened - she surely wouldn’t have any interest in another girl.
She didn’t know what came over her that night but something just felt different – it felt right to let go and give in to her desires and she went for it. She’d try her hardest to pick up the pieces and fix things if her instincts were wrong and she’d just been caught up in the moment - hopefully, that wasn’t going to happen. Her heart felt like it was going to explode in her chest and those few seconds before Beth’s lips were on hers in return felt like an eternity – she was so sure she’d screwed everything up and the relief of knowing she hadn’t washed over her like a tidal wave. “I was so scared. But I’ve wanted to do that for so long…” She finally admitted as she propped herself up on her elbow to meet the eyes of the beautiful girl beside her - the first rays of sunlight light up the room and made her look even more breathtaking. “You’re so beautiful.” She was so filled with emotion at that moment as she reached out to brush a hand over the other’s cheek in a gentle way.

░░░░░░ ☾ peter looks down at his phone, then back up again to meet her gaze and smile a little awkwardly. in all fairness, he’s done worse things. “you wanna just get this over with?” he asks, not bothering to hide the hope in his voice. the hope for this all to end, of course; this game is way too overhyped now that he thinks about it.
@tastelcsshaze
“Do you wanna go get food? Like, with just us.” Okay, so maybe it was always just with them, as they had both seemed to be pretty bad when it came to making friends, but it’s the thought that matters here.

❝ your brother ----- i need to speak to him. ❞ she’s only vague about it for his sake. she would love for the world to know about their relationship, mostly to see the expression on emma’s face when SHE found out, but she knew the scheme had to take time to develop. ❝ seen him around lately? i swear, i can’t get to him at all. it’s like that girlfriend of his has him in chains. ❞
