An Album a Day 2024: Day 3

TAUK - Equalizer (2023)
Prog-rock, Art rock, Instrumental
TAUK - Melvin's Mind (Indie Rock)
🕑 1 min / Text: Adrian Release Date: Oct. 04, 2023 It's great to see that the New York-based indie band TAUK has already gained a huge fan base on Spotify and Instagram. I just clicked on their latest release 'Melvin's Mind' and wasn't disappointed. Good music doesn't need vocals to stand out - the guitar literally starts singing here. It's a vibrant progressive rock arrangement that grabbed my attention with a virtuoso way of playing, interesting electronic layers, and dynamic drums. If you like what you hear, be sure to keep up with TAUK's upcoming album 'Equalizer' and check out their other tracks on Spotify! TAUK Moore Delivers a Masterful Debut LP for Their Fans!
After receiving very high praise over the years, TAUK and Doom Flamingo's vocalist Kanika Moore are delighted to bring their fans a collaboration unlike any other entitled TAUK Moore. TAUK is a four (4) piece progressive rock-fusion band from Oyster Bay, N.Y. Doom Flamingo is a six (6) piece synth-wave band from Charleston, S.C. TAUK Moore features Alric Carter (keys), Kanika Moore (vocals), Charlie Dolan (bass), Isaac Teel (drums), and Matt Jalbert (guitar). During 2018, the band TAUK and Doom Flamingo’s vocalist Kanika Moore met while touring across North America on similar paths. TAUK Moore sculpts a unique and captivating sound blended from elements of rock, funk, groovy electronica, and some unworldly jazz components that are distinctly and unequivocally TAUK Moore. Their self-titled debut album, TAUK Moore, hit streaming platforms on June 16th, 2023 to some rave reviews; for example JamBase.com and GratefulWeb.com.
In a recent MusicFestNews.com interview, Kanika Moore said: “The story behind this album reveals a strong bond between TAUK and myself. There were so many underlining stories happening that molded every song. Life, loss, celebration, frustrations, and redemption. Each story was designed to be interpreted by the listener; we merely guided the song to a vicinity with detail that probably only we really understand."
TAUK Moore is a nine (9) song 39-minute LP that is a straight banger from start to finish. Quite frankly, TAUK Moore is one of those albums that you press play and just let it ride out without skipping a song because each track has a unique feel that grasps the listener’s attention. A few of my favorite tracks to note are “Supernova”, “Step Back”, and “Hallucinogen”. Track one (1) “Supernova” is a super synth-driven synthpop song that has a beautiful retro feel thanks to Alric Carter’s distinct keyboard sound. Track four (4) “Step Back” is a beautiful homage to the feel-good pop songs of the 1980s. With a smooth melody that is paired with some funky synth-wave beats that will make any listener dance to the hypnotic groove. My favorite song off the album is track seven (7) “Hallucinogen”, which is a soulful track mixed with some uplifting, jamtronic elements that blend seamlessly together in an ear-pleasing sonic journey thanks to Kanika’s mesmerizing vocals. Closing out this debut album is a smashing cover of Bjork’s seminal hit song “Army of Me” that clocks in at 4:44 of pure funky goodness.
