it was high-rise at the bar, and the place was packed with people storming in and out of the front doors. that is, after they took a break from sight-seeing around the quaint little town she’s lived in well.. her whole damn life. despite the fact she hadn’t a clue where to go after this, she didn’t know where or who for that matter, she wanted to be. it’s like, penny was just stuck in this world of constant limbo, pulling and tugging but only going in circles. nonetheless, she came to work and she did her job. not because she loved it -- because, well.. who in their right mind loves bar-tending? no one. but it wasn’t as terrible as she made it out to seem, really. with a sigh, dainty hands are working at wiping down the polished wood with a purple dish towel. it’s not until another body sits down in front of her, does green hues flicker up. her smile widens, because frankly - she has no idea who the man actually is, or the fact he’s trying to buy and sell one of the towns oldest buildings. “well hi.” her grin is warm, inviting -- the perfect host. tossing the towel to the side, she presses her hands flat against the surface, raising a brow. “well, let me guess -- vodka cranberry.” the blonde teased, already turning around to grab a bourbon off the top shelf and setting it down before rummaging underneath for a glass. “clean or on the rocks?”

– // ** it was a beautiful day, and dixie was enjoying every second of it. life seemed to have gotten better since leaving her hometown, and the unfortunate passing oh her late husband. on this day, she decided a walk through the park was just what she needed with her best friend, her little frenchie bubby. the sun was warm against her skin and she was caught up in her head that it took her a moment to notice bubby barking at the passerby’s, tugging on his leash. “i am so sorry, bubby really doesn’t bite. he thinks he’s bigger than he is.” she apologized reaching down to scoop the dog up.

“ no ? ” she repeats , brows raising though her vain expression remains . arms cross over her chest , the light sound of leather rubbing as she does so . there’s a KNOWING smirk plastered to her features ; they couldn’t resist her & ava marveled it . “ babe ... you should know better ── i always get what i want . ”

there’s a bunch of dishes on the table as he begins to scrap them one by one in the bin. she’s sitting in the booth, a free milkshake on the table -- courtesy of being cute. “you know.” he begins, glancing over his shoulder at her and then slipping into the table to finish his work sitting down. “you’re kinda’ lucky he’s just your foster parent, because if you two actually for a second looked alike, penny probably wouldn’t have let you in the first time.” he grins, it’s cheeky and sarcastic, but truthfully? he likes her. it’s easy having someone who didn’t know your whole life story, or someone who hasn’t been around since kindergarten. he’s known penelope almost his whole life, considering she was his sister’s best friend -- and basically another older sister to strut around and tell him what to do. except, penny was a tad more bossy than the others. but it’s fine, he didn’t mind it - not really. especially since he spent most of his time chasing after a different bartender, or going to parties in the graveyard. because yes, that’s what people did in small towns -- and yes, it was stupid. but they didn’t have much else to do around here, besides get into trouble. “hey there’s this thing tonight. you wanna’ go?” diego scratches the back of his neck, acting as nonchalant as possible, tossing a few more plates into the bin with a clink and clatter.
