Guys you won’t believe what I just realized. The Movie 6 premiere date is 6/26 in Japan which actually starts on 6/25 in my time zone. 6/25 is the publishing anniversary of To Chase a Butterfly. That was back in 2024 before we even knew there would be a movie (we only knew there was “a project” back then) let alone the exact timing of it. And the fic itself is loosely based on the older Keroro movies to boot.
What I’m trying to say is I might have psychic powers and/or the universe has ordained that I wrote a Keroro movie
I’m not gonna put this in the series tags because this literally only matters if you got like at least over a third of the way into my stupid 90k word fanfic, but I’ve decided my voiceclaim for Tsukeke is Mariya Ise doing the Reg voice. I uhhhh am not going to link clips of Made in Abyss on my page but if you know you know. The Killua voice also works kinda but I think the cadence is a little closer to Reg’s. I’ve also decided Tsukeke would use boku which is somewhat ironic on purpose because he’s actually really old, though in his age frozen state he’s like 18-21ish physically. (And yes I have thought about what a Japanese version of TCaB would be like but I don’t have time or energy to self-translate all that………)
I haven’t chosen an English voiceclaim, I might figure one out eventually but my head voices for KG are the Japanese ones by default so :L
To Chase a Butterfly Chapter 17 (FINAL) Release
~shinjiteru yo, shinjiteru yo, bokura no aikotoba~ (Fun fact, “Password” was the other chapter name option—it was a very close race)
Kururu has traveled back in time and successfully changed Saburo’s fate! Now that he has his best friend back, he just has to figure out what to say to him. Plus, that’s not the only relationship he has to salvage…
This is it! The final chapter! Good endings aren’t easy to pull off, so I hope this epilogue gives you all some nice closure.
It’s so surreal to have finally reached the end! I have a looooot to say in the afterword over on AO3, some of which (not to be pretentious but) I think is pretty important. And at the end of the chapter, you will also be treated to adorable ending commemoration art I commissioned from @donnpacchi (AKA @funnymanoopsy!)
I’m gonna keep this tumblr post brief, but I might have some other rambles in separate posts now that all’s said and done. I am also considering an FFN port for those who can’t/don’t want to use AO3, and as a real stretch goal/vanity project, a fully formatted ebook…? I know AO3 can export epubs by default but I was thinking of something that looks a little prettier—this is novel-length, after all. Somehow.
To everyone who’s enjoyed and supported TCaB over the past 15 months, thank you very, very, very much!!! <3
