The Circle of Life (Astrid) //She's not here, but... yeah.
It was a normal training session. Hiccup was sat on a bench, taking a well needed drink and a rest as Draco lay at his feet and the other dragons scattered around the room. He planned on a ten minute break before returning the dragons then going for a well needed swim to cool himself off and then relax his muscles. He lay for a moment, eyes staring unfocused at the ceiling. Astrid was practising somewhere off to the side, her grunts as the axe buried itself over and over in the target as she flung it from further distances.
When his ten minutes rest was over, Hiccup stood and flung out a hand to grab his bag - but instead of grabbing his bag, he sent a dagger flying. "Astrid!" he called out in warning, a little too late. "Fucking hell," he dropped everything, rushing over to her as she collapsed, a pool of blood spreading from somewhere. "Astrid, Astrid?" he called as he dropped to his knees beside her, panic in his expression as he saw the deep cut in her neck. He had done this, all because of his clumsiness.
"What do I do, what do I do?" He ripped out his phone and called 911, panicking as he explained that his friend had a deep cut in her neck. Every second more of her crimson blood seemed to stain the floor, his hands, his trousers, her hair. He didn't know what to do. He tried pressing against the cut, but it didn't stem the blood flow. He'd cut an artery.
10 minutes later when the ambulance showed up, Hiccup was lying across the body of his dead friend. When they eventually pried him off her, he reached out to close her eyes, giving her a final kiss to the temple in goodbye.
