hnnn... question... what if tdtlu was reversed... kinda like... reader is a mermaid and black somehow pulls a move and ends up keeping her in a pool or something?
(ALSO I GOT A BIT TOO DEEP INTO THIS, THIS GOT LONG I’M SORRY-)
So. He has most of the same aspects as Sans is from the fic. He’s good with tech like original Sans (which is, fun fact, why Black is so good with magic- they don’t really tinker with technology much, so most of his knowledge goes to magic :D ). Though, I mean he’s technically a classic Sans so of course he’d be, haha ^^;
And just like Black, he’s pretty lonely. He chose to live near Skull Reef, because not a lot of people go there. It’s where he can get peace and quiet, though he does get mad whenever someone comes by to bother him, or try to bother those underwater beings. Not that he’s particularly fond of mermaids, but he doesn’t like disturbances in his “territory”.
He’s just got into a fight like in the first chapter of TDtLU when he sits on his pier, tired, and hating everything more than usual.
... When he sees a fin gliding just beneath the waves, scales sparkling under the moonlight.
You were curious about him apparently, his hood over his skull, looking so sad on the pier.
You know you’re not supposed to interact with those that live on land... But you say hi anyways. Ask him what’s wrong, why he looks so glum.
Like his underwater counterpart, he’s silent, only gesturing to show how he is, but... It’s nice. It brings a smile to his face that a sea-dweller would come to him. Honestly, at first, he was ready to attack because land and sea creatures tend to not get along with each other.
But after you say your goodbyes, showing him your curiosity for land and sparing him some kindness, telling him how it’s late and you need to go home... He starts standing up on the pier, eyelights fixated on that tail for until he couldn’t see you anymore.
His hand is outstretched, magic glowing, wanting to take you back... But he stops.
What was he even going to do when he gets you? You can’t just flop around on land.
So he does what he does, and prepares. He knows how shy mer-folk can be when land-dwellers are around, so he stays near the forest, eyelights scanning the waters for those vibrant scales, flawless-looking skin underwater.
There were times where you’d come to the beach just to relax and those would be the times where he’d grab hard onto a tree enough for it to splinter. He knows to be patient but it’s hard when you’re right there on the sands, your eyes closed as you let the sun warm you.
One day, a boat approached the reef. It wasn’t too big, nor was it making a lot of commotion.
“don’t go near the boats” they said. “it’s dangerous” they said.
You’ve gone out of your way to greet a land-dweller before. You’ve always been curious about land, and you’ve followed boats countless times by now. And this one was stopping at Skull Reef, and they weren’t even really string the waters! A little look-see wouldn’t hurt, would it?
The boat didn’t move from its spot for a long time, and a couple of times you even risked to bring your upper half out of the water to see what’s there.
Cautiously, you come even closer to it to see what’s there. Some fishing gear, bait, and some other paraphernalia you’re not quite sure what they’d use it for (land stuff is fascinating!) and after saying your curiosity (and holding back the urge to steal borrow something) You back away... Only to bump into a net.
All of a sudden there’s someone on the boat, Sans’ eyelights sharp and locked onto you.
Faster than she could even react, he’s already yanked the net, so much so that she’s pulled out of the water, yelping. You try to call for help but already there was something on your mouth, and above you a skeleton pressed... Something to your face.
It smelled, a little sweet, and you start to feel limp and tired. You never fully lose your consciousness, but you just lay there in the boat while the monster moves away, starting to bring back to shore. A part of you knows you should try to struggle and go back to the sea, but... It doesn’t come. Before he even reaches sand you’re already asleep.
... He was really hoping against hope that nitrous oxide would work with mer-folk too. Apparently, it did, and it was fitting that he was chuckling... Laughing gas. As he rowed to shore, he asked you for your name.
Before you fell asleep, you told him.
... And when you woke up, you were in a tank in his house, head in his arms as he gently pets your head, having waited for you to wake up.
