Tired of Coffee? Use your coffee maker to make loose-leaf tea!
Here's the college kid/ economic way I've figured out. All you need is a coffee maker and a coffee strainer:
1) Pour water into machine, as usual.
2) Do not place coffee strainer or grounds into percolator; simply leave empty.
3) Turn your machine on and let the water filter into the pot and heat up.
4) Turn off machine, take off pot, and pour your desired amount of tea leaves directly into the pot.
5) Place the pot back onto the burner (make sure the machine is OFF). This will keep the pot hot as your tea steeps.
6) Place a coffee strainer over the top of your mug (you can place it upside down over the top, as long as you monitor it so the liquid doesn't spill over the sides) and pour your tea through the strainer and into your mug. Be careful of leaf build up or spillage; I would do this over a sink or easily cleaned surface your first time to be safe.
7) Fix tea the way you like it, and enjoy!
