In the article above, it talks about how approximately 18 percent of teachers across the country have to get second jobs due to their low salaries. It doesn't specify when these teachers get their jobs, whether it be during summer and winter breaks or while they are still in school session. It also didn't explain why these teachers were getting second jobs but, we can infer its in need of more money. The article explains how many protests have occurred due to the low salary rates. I believe the message of this article is to show that in certain states and school districts that the salary is so low it comes down to getting a second job. This article helped me get a deeper understanding of what becoming a teacher may entail as well as an issue that can use a lot more attention.
