Week 3: Mulan
Tuesday: Sequel Day!
Lesson Number One, a lovely disney song that deserves more love.
Tuesday: Favorite Ship (Brotp).
Timon and Pumbaa. Not only is their relationship one of my mine brotps, their friendship with Simba is a brot3 for the books (I mean they are willing to be live bate, dress in drag, and do the hula all to help a friend reclaim his "fixer-upper" of a home).
I also love that their characters are the Disney version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. I'm sure a lot of us have learned about The Lion King/Hamlet similarities, but this one is by far my favorite. Unlike the original Shakespearian characters, Timon and Pumbaa remain loyal to Simba but still retain all their dynamic duo traits that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern have in Hamlet. They provide Hamlet/Simba with distractions from his past and need for revenge, provide comedic relief, and help move the plot along. In both Hamlet and The Lion King, Timon and Pumbaa/Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are my favorite ship and characters.
