Backyard Snowdown - Last Day of Gold
Frankenfruit Studio’s game, Backyard Snowdown, has hit the Gold Milestone. It “releases” today.
There is nothing left to do but reflect on the whole process. That, in a way, might just be the scariest thing of all.
About time
Almost finished Gold in my latest game and looking forward to whats next! This is an update on Poly the Penguin.
Post feature lock polish.
With gold due tomorrow its heavy duty polish time where all the post effects and fancy lighting comes into play. because with a little time and elbow grease every lump of coal can be a diamond.
Mickey Out!
Jumping back into Maya
Today I went back to Maya for the first time in a while to make a bed for my upcoming narrative story. As you can see it extremely simple and plain. But I think its enough to get the job done.
Grey box all the way to Gold!
Grey Box
Starting off with a grey box and an idea to make this game about a guy just having a bad day in Downtown New York, and the challenge here for me was the level design, because I had no idea how I was gonna lead the player through a city area.
Alpha
Alpha I just added a fps controller and some simple models, was a playable level at the least.
Which way is up?
I decided to spend some much needed time on practising with different concepts using the Code a Day challenge to help with general goals and starting points. The topic I chose was “Which way is up?” where you’re challenged to create a mechanic that relies on gravity and changing perspective. So with a (ridiculously large) cup of coffee and unity answers at my side, I dived straight in.
This iteration dealt with concepts that I understood but would have struggled to come up with on my own, so I want to reattempt this challenge again in the future when my skills are more versatile. Super fun either way!
