Grateful to be a Member of this Family: (Turn on audio) As this latest virtual @eddieadamsworkshop concludes, I’m continually impressed by what I learn from my students and fellow faculty members. How can I not? As a commercial photographer, I consider myself a bit of an outsider when it comes to photojournalism. After all, it’s what this workshop is all about. It’s why I think of myself as a “student” more than a Team Leader, which has been my role there for the last four years. And, it is through this education that my appreciation for what these photojournalists do grows. Many times, they put themselves in harms way in order to bring us awareness and understanding of the world around us. It’s that type of dedication and sacrifice that I find so commendable and inspiring. They create work with purpose- to make this world a better place. And, it’s that type of objective that inspired me to create work with its own kind of “purpose”. (It was soon after my first year at EAW that I started my environmental projects Mirage and the Plastic “Wave” series.) So, it is through my immense gratitude for everyone at the workshop, faculty and students alike, that I volunteered to create this year’s Group Photo. It’s what I can do to give back and so happy to do so. Thank you @alyssaada , @mirjam_evers_photography and the Black Team for putting on another stellar virtual experience. And, to my fellow faculty members of #teamturquoise , @idrissolomon @al_drago and @bizarro_olivier a big thank you for all you do. Lastly, to my students for your faith in me to help guide you through your projects and all the lessons you’ve taught me along the way.
