“You okay?” Steve asked.

I hummed, and looked up at him. “Yeah. I’m fine.” Looking back at the sliding glass doors, I sighed. “Sister instinct is kicking in. I wanna make sure she’s okay.”

Before he could give his answer, if he even wanted to give me an answer, we both turned at the sound of someone squealing. My question was answered before I could even think of the question; Tommy pushed Carol in the pool, who said, “Oh, my god. What the hell, Tommy?”

He jumped in after her as Steve put his arm around my shoulders, guiding me slowly to the edge of the pool before pushing both Nancy and I in. When I came back up for air, I looked at Steve, and watched as he jumped in.

When he surfaced, I splashed water at him, exclaiming, “I’m gonna kill you!”

He splashed me back, and it felt like old times; us playing in the pool… before he remembered that Nancy was in the pool, too. As they were having their fun, I got out, announcing that I was going to get us all some towels.

After I had gone inside to retrieve the towels, I wrapped up in mine, checking on Barb, who seemed to be doing okay.

“I just… really want to go home,” she said.

“I’ll take you home, don’t worry,” I said, rubbing her arm. “That is after I put on some dry clothes.” I chuckled, but it didn’t seem to reach her ears, so I walked to the back patio, putting the towels on one of the chairs.

When everyone else got out and wrapped up in their towels, we headed back inside, where Carol said that she was freezing, and Tommy mentioned that Steve’s parents had a fireplace in their bedroom.

“You’re cleaning the sheets,” Steve said. Walking to Nancy, he asked, “You alright?”

She answered that she was as he walked over to me.

“I’m sure you can still fit in the clothes you left here,” he said.

“I haven’t really grown since freshman year, so I think I might,” I chuckled.

Steve and I went up to his bedroom when I heard Barb holler for Nancy. I’m not sure what they talked about, and to be honest, I really didn’t care. I just wanted out of these freezing ass clothes.

I looked around Steve’s room as I walked in, smiling a little to myself. “Hasn’t changed a bit.”

Steve shrugged. “Eh. There’s a new poster.”

“Doesn’t count,” I said, moving to the dresser drawer that had my clothes in it. I grabbed a pair of pants, not really feeling the shirts I had in there. I closed that drawer and went to the closet, turning on the light. “I’m borrowing a shirt.”

“You never returned my others,” he said.

I turned my head, seeing him standing at the open closet door. “Give a girl a break. They’re comfortable.” Since my undergarments were soaked as well, I went back to my drawer, grabbing a bra and a pair of panties before moving back to the closet to change.

Once I was finished, I walked out, seeing Nancy looking at Steve with bedroom eyes, taking off her shirt. “Nice,” I whispered, quickly walking out of the bedroom. Going to the kitchen, I was fully intending on making myself a glass of water and a quick sandwich to eat before taking Barb and Nancy back home.

As I was eating my sandwich and sipping on my water, I noticed that the lights flickered on and off. It was more of a blink and you’ll miss it type of flicker. What’s crazy is I thought I heard screaming, but I guessed that was just my imagination.

Lurking in the dark Teaser 3

Pairing: No pairing here.. just Lim Jaebeom from GOT7; Genre: Assassin AU, Angst; Rating: nsfw, 18+; Warnings: mentions of poisoned tea, JB is impatient af, a sword, death from bleeding out through a stab wound, JB being not very kind to the dead as he steps on the corpse; Wordcount: 541

Summary: After witnessing the murder of your previous boss, you were forced to follow the assassin. Normally witnesses would have been killed but he decided against it, taking you to their hideout, a small guest house in the middle of nowhere. The assassin and the rest of his group were hiding more than you thought but you had to keep a huge secret for yourself as well.

Jaebeom tapped his fingers restlessly on the large oak table in front of him, staring intently at the person opposite of him.

The man was talking and talking for over half an hour now and Jaebeom was close to losing his patience. At the beginning of the meeting he had offered the man a cup of tea, quietly poisoning the cup before he handed it over.

The man had thanked him gratefully and placed the cup in front of him, not drinking from it. He still hadn’t drank a sip until now.

Jaebeom raised his own cup to his lips once more, trying to get his opponent to drink as well. But none of his psychological tricks seemed to work, making Jaebeom feel more and more irritated with each passing second and each word that left this man’s mouth. The quality of the tea wasn’t even worth drinking it to get this man killed.

“We talked a lot now, you must feel thirsty.” Jaebeom smiled politely, nodding towards the untouched cup of tea.

The man laughed and grabbed the cup, holding it for a moment in his hands. “Ah, the tea is already cold.”

It took everything in Jaebeom not to groan loudly or even to roll his eyes. “Should I make another one?” Jaebeom stood up and walked over to his kettle, ready to get some more water.

“Ah, no, no. It’s already late. I overstayed my welcome for sure by now.”

Jaebeom stilled, his nose flaring in anger. “Don’t say that. I insist on making you another cup.” He tried to keep his calm and collected appearance but he felt like a storm raged inside of him.

The man stood up as well and bowed deeply towards Jaebeom, insisting on leaving. He turned around and made his way towards the exit.

For a split second Jaebeom’s eyes widened in shock, but even if someone had looked at him they wouldn’t have caught the small movement. Now Jaebeom definitely panicked. His eyes darted around his office and fell on his sword, which hung on the wall behind his desk.

Normally this sword had only decorative purposes but it was a real one, sharp and deadly.

Jaebeom leaped forward and grabbed the sword, unsheathing the weapon as he followed the man. With one swift movement Jaebeom stabbed the oblivious man from behind, pushing the whole sword through the body.

A shocked gargle escaped his throat as he looked down to his chest, where he saw the tip of the sword. “Wha-”, he helplessly raised his trembling hands, not sure what exactly he wanted to do.

Jaebeom huffed and pulled the sword back out, watching how the man fell to the ground and bled out on his floor. The puddle of the red liquid growing with the last heartbeats. Jaebeom breathed heavily and switched his gaze from the dead body to his bloodied sword. He clicked his tongue in annoyance. “I can’t believe I have to clean this shit up.”

Another huff escaped his lips as he dropped the sword and stepped over the body. He needed some tea. This time though he wanted some with a better quality, knowing Youngjae could provide him exactly what he needed at the Baby Bird.
