Hey! Techie here! You just answered my saw injury ask and update!

I’m allowed to saw again but only if it’s easy sawing (no complex builds so far) and it’s healed over now! My scar changes colour still but only when it’s cold - it caught my new boss by surprise when he noticed it lmao.

It’s all fine now and no pain!

Ay! Long time no asks! Techie here! I’m a busy boy (gender neutral) now theatres are opening back up!

I got a placement at a theatre and it’s so so so gorgeous. They have a fly floor! They have a proper green room! And quick change rooms!

I’ll be working as crew for panto season and I know I’m going to be exhausted afterwards but nothing makes me feel better than working in the sound and lighting department. I’m getting to operate a follow spot! 🔦

I’ve worked at a few events and I have to say... sound work is so fun. I build a few mics, get them working and go “don’t break it” and go back to my wee corner. That’s all I do! I love my department! The software we use is a PAIN but it’s w/e, I’ll learn it eventually.

I got a crew job! An actual job! That isn’t draining! Oh my god I love it. I can’t say anything about the job but omg it’s fun.

And I think I know what I want to do after college.. sound tech, scenic painter and pyrotech.

I know, I have been Absent from this blog yoinks. I’ve been super busy with college and my job and just all the things.

I’m so so glad that your job is so fun!!!! It’s so great that you also know what you wanna do post-school!!! That’s half the battle, tbh. Also, having an office cat is literally the dream, tell her I love her and give her sweet lil kisses for me *kith kith*

YALL. TECHIE HERE I AM EXHAUSTED.

So today was focused on sound for an event and myself and a classmate are sound designers and operators.

Of course we set up the mixer, speakers and mics to sing ABBA, songs from shrek, sweet Caroline and songs to wind up my lecturer.

I have been singing and dancing non stop from 10am-7pm (dancing on the bus with no shame) and I am at the point of exhaustion that I am laughing at everything hysterically.

The scar’s from a tenon saw when I was NEARLY finished my first half lap joint. Honestly I was probably being an idiot with a saw and I deserved it.

It runs from the first knuckle on my thumb (deepest part - pretty sure you could see the bone) to about a cm above my wrist.

My friend drove me to A&E and I tried so hard not to get blood over her new car and I got stitches and a bandage.

Also! My scar changes colour now. Usually from usual pink/ red to purple when I get it wet.

Tip: never be in a workshop alone unless you’re painting.

Oh I’m forbidden from the workshop incase it happens again (I haven’t been within 5 feet of a saw since then) but now I’ve got double everything else. So more painting, more LX work and more essays :(

We’ve finished the show now but it’s still paperwork (I can’t say the name of the show)
