Performing right after Wednesday's salon is Dissimilar South. Dissimilar South brings together a few southern instruments, four folks from the south, and a dash of angelic harmony to give rise to a sound unlike any above or below the Mason-Dixon line.
GET HYPE FOR SALON ONE Y'ALL. This Wednesday. Greenlaw 101. 6:30 to 7:30.
Our third speaker for salon one is Keegan McBride. Keegan is a senior chemistry major, double minoring in business and math. He is also Co-Founder and CEO of Meantime Coffee Co., a student-run non-profit coffee shop located in the Campus Y.
Salon one's second speaker is Farris Barakat. Farris Barakat has spent the last two years countering Islamophobia by carrying on his brother’s legacy after he was killed in a shooting in Chapel Hill on February 15, 2015. Farris not only fulfilled his brother’s service project of bringing dental care to rural Turkey, but surpassed the original $14,000 goal by raising over $500,000. Currently, he is setting up The Light House, a non-profit that pays tribute to Deah Barakat, his brother. The Light House serves as an incubator for growing projects.
Introducing our first speaker for this Wednesday's salon #1! Keith Knight is a rapper, social activist, father and educator. He’s also one of the funniest and most highly regarded cartoonists in America, and the creator of three popular comic strips: the Knight Life, (th)ink, and the K Chronicles.
Join TEDxUNC for the first salon of the year! "Venture Without Fear" will cover topics including entrepreneurship and creativity without boundaries.
TEDx Salons are small events throughout the year that keeps a TEDx community engaged between regular TEDx events. It’s a unique kind of gathering that TEDx organizers hold which allows the conversation to continue, in person.
