═══════════════════════════════ Discovering Teef had me Happy.
Being able to do fan-art of Teef (and actually doing so) had m Ecstatic.
Reading the chapter from the comic from where Teef comes had me Manic.
Th is not jus the Tumblr fascination with 'crab'. Teef is very hardcore with a pinch of edge, having tha tough carapace, plenty of sharp teeth, and that rotund, grooved underbelly... which turns ou to b equally tough to the rest of her carapace! I also like how she is rough and tough with a hidden soft side.
Then again, @grosskelly's designs were always Creepy Awesome. @grosskelly is not afraid in delving deep into the unknown or emaining in the conventional. The normal case, though, is the twisting and warping of biology to a deliberately uncanny and grotesqu effect. Really, the designs are in a wide spectrum o familiar and unfamiliar. The art style sticks out in the same way.
Once again, I was very grateful that I could spri Teef... and how fitting her design was to spriting. I mean, the grooves on the top and bottom parts of the carapace made a grea texture, her eyes and teeth made a neat pattern, the spots on her carapace pretty much begged to be dithered, and her palette being made of shades of red made more subtle shading possible. The legs look a little odd, though, plus her claw being outlined in a solid colour was honestly a compromise.
If I were to fix this, I would try again with more subtly shading the outline of the claw, plus I might reduce the size of the two-pixel tooth. ═══════════════════════════════ This was part of Artfight 2021.
