Old doodles pre-release. I was desperately hoping we'd get to see Tyrea and Teelan as the Melia defence squad.

Do you have any headcanons for Melia?

Hi Anon! Phew... that’s a tricky question. To be fair, I don’t think about Melia a lot compared to some of the other characters, but here I’ll share a few that pop up. They’re below the readmore. ~

Melia got this crush on Shulk because he was the first man of ‘‘her age’‘ to be genuinely nice towards her, and not because of her status. The genuine kindness from him and the party is probably another reason Melia doesn’t divulge her status for a long time... she fears they’d treat her differently if they knew.

I like Meliora, so I headcanon Melia being a little envious of this ‘‘Fiora’‘ Shulk keeps talking about and when she meets her for real, it’s like ‘‘Dayum!’‘ and she completely understands Shulk straight away.

I know the canon shows Melia as short and thin, but I headcanon Melia to take after her mother body-wise and is (or used to be) more plump and rounded than most High Entia.

Yumea’s attitude about it has left Melia super anxious around food and weight.Fiora eventually helps her to deal with it a little better. Her food’s hard to say no to after all.

Melia’s late mother and Kallian were the ones to raise her most of her life. Yumea doesn’t look like she had a hand in it ever, even after Melia’s bio mom died. Yumea probably just chewed her out or put her in time out anytime she had to look after Melia.

Kallian would sneak Melia out of Yumea’s time out, maybe visit some fast food places in Alcamoth to cheer her up. Some types of fast food remains Melia’s guilty pleasure to this day.

Melia likes cats. Why else would she have a cat suit in her armor sets? There would be a few cats running around in the Palace when she’s Empress.

I feel Melia would have a special bond with Riki, especially after the whole thing with Lorithia and Telethia!Kallian. She’d probably ask Riki for advice every now and then and value his perspectives on the world and issues.

Tyrea would be Melia’s closest advisor and confidant when it comes to her duty as an Empress. They grow to one another over the years and learn a lot from eachother.

Melia and Tyrea, together with Shulk and Teelan, would eventually find a cure for the Telethia curse. (Gotta have a happy end mkay?)

Melia dyes the tips of her hair or wings at one point, thanks to losing a bet with Tyrea. She’d probably pick a lilac tone. She ends up liking it enough to integrate it with her usual attire.
