O: How much have they changed in the past five years?

in the past 5 years, oliver has gone from teenager finishing up a successful run in two shows to an adult navigating through real life while fronting a critically acclaimed show.  while he hasn’t changed significantly, from 17 to 22, he has learned the impermanence of his career choice and that fame can be fleeting. he has learned (or failed to) that love is more complicated than feelings and saying ily. i wish i could say that he’s more focussed or career-driven, but when he have innate talent and are aware of it, it’s hard to really change.  give him another 5.

L: How often do they post on their social media accounts?

all. the. time.  olli is a social media addict. he’s mostly on ig/tiktok, but he’s not above a cheeky tweet and he still uses facebook for connecting with his friends from school/his parents.  he loves going on live and being chatty.  honestly would probably pick up vlogging and youtube career if he had the time. 

I: In general, are they organized or messy?

despite sometimes outward appearances, olli is a very organized individual.  he loves being able to grab and go because he knows exactly where something is when he needs it.  his linen closet is like opening the door to a proper shop with how everything is laid out. his bedroom closet and drawers are less-so, particularly during show time, because he hates laundry and folding, but there is still some sort of system going on...usually...the only mess he will accept is if it’s the day after a party and it’s all going in the bin anyway.

V: They’ve been arrested, who is their one phone call to? 

his mum. he’d be embarrassed and devastated, but his mum is the only one who can get him out of this mess. 

E: Are they the happiest they’ve ever been?

day 6: a female character (that’s not yours)

i’m choosing bb mia to highlight bc she’s so so important to me.  she’s one of those characters that i don’t want to see suffer anymore (even if she brings much of the suffering upon her because of all the drama she’s been through, all of the bullying, all of the mental health issues, but mia is strong.  she is beautiful.  she’s growing through the pain and struggle to come out as this intelligent, talented girl that her brother is so incredibly proud of.  i never really understood why mia was picked on so much beau, so it makes me happy to see that somehow she didn’t succumb and elliot can still rely on her.  she’s a fun character to follow.  

i’m excited to see more of her journey in the future.

who demands showering first in the mornings? mattie because beauty doesn’t come easy, leonard! (also because lenny usually showers after his practices and games because otherwise he’s sitting in a car being stinky for like an hour and a half on his drives home)

who is louder and who constantly has the tell the other to be quiet? i feel like they’re chatty in different ways. lenny can get super energetic and demand attention and mattie would have no qualms in telling him to be quiet, but lenny will shush mattie when she starts badmouthing that other player’s girlfriend who had the audacity to ask why she missed last game when it should have been obvious that she had to watch micah i mean please

4. Any addictions? (Food, sex, drugs/alcohol, shopping, power/control, etc.)

matthew's addicted to the way it feels to punch something.  he's addicted to camel cigarettes - though really he'll smoke whatever brand, it's the idea that he won't live forever that he's addicted to.  worst of all, he's addicted to austyn.  there's nothing that makes him feel quite so alive and dead all at the same time.  there's nothing that makes him want to fly and drown himself to get away all at once.  only austyn. the way she touches him and whispers in his ear and fucks with his brain makes me need her and loathe her simultaneously.  it's the one addiction he'd trade for anything. 

6. Their romantic relationships?

it's always too much, too fast.  he doesn't know how to take his time and really get to know someone before diving in. any relationships tend to go down in explosions.  there's also the fact that matt is easily addicted to people.  he has a hard time saying goodbye, which is why he keeps coming back to austyn even though he knows goddamn well that he shouldn't, that she's just going to fuck with him over and over and over.  

9. Name some of their major physical shortcomings.

matty's not very strong.  he's tall and lean, but he's 'skinny fat' for sure.  in prison he worked out because there was nothing else for him to do, but it was arm day every day.  he doesn't really eat well and his endurance is that of a smoker's.  his left ear is higher up on his head than his right (so wearing sunglasses is always fun).  it's undiagnosed, but matt is nearsighted and it's only gotten worse with age.  he has no problem seeing things up close, but the further away an object becomes the more blurry it is to him, so reading road signs etc isn't always easy.    

18. Are they ever a pushover about something? If so, how?

matt is a pushover when it comes to saying no.  he can say it repeatedly, but if someone were to continue to put the pressure on he has a hard time standing his ground, particularly when sex and alcohol and (in the past) drugs are involved.  it ends up being a "one time won't hurt" type of reaction, and that's how he gets into so much trouble.

What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.

lenny naturally sleeps on his stomach. he always has, probably because when he was little, he liked to snuggle his face into the pillows at night. he definitely takes up more than his fair share of the bed because he sleeps facedown, limbs spread out - but mattie insists on sharing, so more often than not, lenny is sleeping on his side pressed up against her at night.

If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?

green and gray by nickel creek has always been my top lenny song. like, the song is just the perfect embodiment of lenny, with a soft but plucky melody, and the lyrics have really always just reminded me of lenny.

Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.

lenny has always been a vivid dreamer - he chalks it up to his synesthesia. he has very vivid, bright dreams that have a tendency to stick with him after he’s woken up. he definitely had a consistent dream when he was little of hitting a walk-off home run in the world series - he probably still has that same dream, even if the exact faces in it have changed through the years.

If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?

it depends on what’s on the line. i feel like if it were just him being challenged, lenny is much more of a flight kind of person than a fight kind of person. he’s never been the kind of person to pick a fight if it can be avoided. but he’s very protective of the ones he loves, so i think he would stay and fight if it meant that he could keep someone else’s nose clean.

If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?

no one, because lenny is a pacifistic angel who would much rather work out his issues with someone than kill them over it.

Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?

the first two that immediately come to mind are a wish for a happy life for his baby, where that little nugget gets everything he wants, and then to play for the twins, since that’s only been his dream since he was three years old. as for the third, tbh i think he would probably wish for his synesthesia to go away for a while so he can succeed in school because he doesn’t want to be one of those players who got into the majors so they never went to or finished college, but he also has such low academic confidence that he thinks he can’t do it himself.

Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?

lenny is a very affectionate person naturally - he has never had any problems making friends because he’s just very kind to people on first meeting them, so in that way, he’s quite affectionate. when it comes to romance itself, he’s still more affectionate than romantic, i think. he definitely has to make the romantic gestures for mattie, and he does date night well, but i think overall for him, it’s the small things. a kiss on the nose. a flower he saw on the side of the road walking home. 

Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?

he hopes not :(

Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?

um lenny is really pretty vanilla tbh except mattie knows about his synesthesia and purposely tries to manipulate it in bed sometimes this is like 100% canon fact

Ryan leaves with a busty blonde you’re all sure is a prostitute.  “It’s all in the walk,” you slur to the remainder of the crew.  No one knows if she really is but you all like to speculate.  The going price seems to be fifty for an hour. 

Cheap whores.Cheaper alcohol.

“Back the fuck off my girl faggot!”“What the fuck did you call me?”Shoving ensues.  Then punching.  Then kicking.You have to be pulled off each other.You make contact with the brick wall outside.Your black t-shirt is damp with blood.  Yours or his you aren’t quite sure.

You walk home, knuckles and lip bleeding.  Everything around you is red.Red houses,Red flowers,Red cars.

It’s all you see as you storm through the familiar, dimly lit streets. 

Approaching the door to your apartment you wipe the blood from your lip with the back of your hand.  It just smears across your cheek.  It’ll remain there until morning because you really couldn’t give less of a fuck.  You plan on walking up those steps, slamming the door, and passing out on your bed.  No ice, no water, no fucks.  You barely feel the pain from the cuts on your knuckles or your lip.  You just feel angry. 

It’s always there, that anger.  It’s been there since the day you were born.  It’s there every Saturday.

You barely register that Austyn is lying on the couch with some sitcom playing on the TV in the background.  Your head is elsewhere.  You pass through the living room and head straight for your bedroom. 

“Holy fuck, are you bleeding?”

You stop in your tracks.  You look down at your hands and see the streaks of red.  Huh.  You suppose you are bleeding. 

“Get the fuck out Oz.”  You turn and glare at her. You don’t have time for her and her whining bullshit.  Oh fuck me, Matty.  Oh I’m hungry Matt make me a fucking sandwich.  Oh I’m Austyn I can smoke a lot of weed and be fifteen and you have to be the responsible adult in this relationship even though you’re just a kid yourself.  It was bullshit.  It was always bullshit.  Right now you didn’t want to deal with bullshit. 

But she doesn’t listen.                  (she never listens)

“What the fuck did you do Matty?”  She’s holding your hands, looking at your knuckles.  You jerk your hands away.  You don’t want her to fucking touch you right now.  She needs to go.  “Didn’t you fucking hear me, cunt?  You need to fucking go.” 

She hits you.  “Fuck you.”

You deserve that in hindsight, but drunkenness doesn’t see reason.  You grab her wrist.  Anger flashes through your eyes.  She presses herself against you.  You push back.                   “You’re fucking deaf.”     You try to guide her to the door but she’s struggling.  You’re struggling.  She has your blood on her face and there’s a bit drying in her hair.  You make it to the wall and push her against it.  One hand moves from her wrist to her throat.  Your thumb presses down.                   “And you’re fucking bleeding, shithead.”

You press your cut lips against hers to just shut her up.She tastes of nothing.  Just blood and beer and booze. She tastes of Austyn.

                  It’s the same every Saturday.
