ICYMI: Another piece of my childhood is gone. Bob McGrath has died (December 4) at the age of 90. He was big part of my childhood not only on "Sesame Street," but TeleMiracle as well. Rest in peace, Bob.
Bob McGrath, an original cast member of the beloved children's program "Sesame Street," has died, according to statements from his family and Sesame Workshop shared on social media.
This one hurts because like many of my generation, I grew up with Bob on Sesame Street. Not only that, but even as I entered my teens and young adulthood he was still part of my life because he was a regular part of Telemiracle, an annual telethon put on in Saskatchewan by the Kinsmen. He was one of a number of international headliners who took part the first year (people like Arte Johnson from Laugh-In, now-infamous Rolf Harris, and even Billy Barty, to name a few). But, he ended up staying with Telemiracle and its cause for literally decades until he retired from appearing only about 7 years ago (and he made a final appearance in 2018 as a special guest). For his work, he was twice honoured by the Province of Saskatchewan.
R.I.P.
Telemiracle has been pretty good this year, can't believe it's almost done though and it hasn't yet reached the 5 million mark
Had a visit from some of the national cast or #telemiracle had to get a photo of my friend little boy with Donnie Parenteau, Brad Johner and Beverly Mahood! So awesome of them to always stop by and visit the stores! We really appreciate it! Thx you. #prestoncrossingsobeys #sobeys @gillianberube @mattyberube1 so darn cute.
