Brief update - my fish are doing great! For any of you goldfish nerds out there (I wish there were more of you) I now have two Aquaclear 110 HOB's on my 55 gallon and my fish are absolutely thriving. I added some floating plants (learned my lesson about duck weed the hard way) and my nitrate levels have dropped. I've also started training them to do tricks! They can now swim through this ring on command, but I leave it in there for them to play with and they love it.
