If a Landsknecht tellerbarret goes through a metamorphosis first it wil shead it's feathers, then acquire new ones. The new, fancier feathers needs to be tied together in pairs or in some cases three piece at a time. Addattional shaping of the feathers may or may not happens.

Then in this case it starts to grow some additional layer on the brim and for a briefe period of time one could think it's for some very fashionable japanese guy

but at the end of the growing process this additional layer will curl up and rippen in proper landsknecht fashion.

Only time will tell how will be the feathers attached to the hat...

Working through my landsknecht tellerbarret.

Hand-me-down reed/straw hat brim cut and reinforced with wire on the brim and crown.

Wool cut, and slashed planned out.

Yellow linen cut and wool slashed. I was worried the linen was going to be too sheer and not contrast against the black as it should, but even the one layer of it pops really nicely.

The yellow linen won out over blue or red suiting wool. Those ended up being just a little too undersaturated, they wouldn't quite give that nice contrast I was looking for.

Edges finished on the crown. This is the only part that was done by machine, it was just so much faster to bag stitch this one because it's a simple square.

Outer brim hand stitched. I just went around with a ladder stitch and it looks way better and more controlled than I could have gotten on a machine.

Found a cute button and stitched down the crown.

Getting very, very close!
