volke has terrible timing when he doesn't have a knife in his hand. it's why he sticks to war and politics. he'd think less of ike, anyway, if ike chose him over soren.

It's very funny to me that like I find lots of people who just hates Oliver to oblivion. But then you have me who have a brother who likes Wario a lot (I also like Wario, but like...) so I assume that's why he just loves Oliver so much. Each time Oliver is on screen I have to wait for him to stop laughing. Like, I can't even hate that guy, my brother likes him too much. >.<

They made Oliver playable in Radiant Dawn for my brother. No one wanted this except my brother.

It's not even that he thinks fat people are funny. He doesn't like Brom. He just likes Oliver. He voted for him in the Shadows Cup cause he was like. "OMG OLIVER WOULD BE A HERON! THATD BE AWESOME" and I was like "Why was OLIVER your first thought? What about dragon Soren?"

But, yeah, then there's me who vote Shinon and not Soren. 👍

Early morning brainworms…

Ike, Soren, and Ranulf going on a birding date. They would all share a pair of binoculars. Ranulf would locate the birds first with his superb hearing, and point them out to Ike, who would try to identify them using the birding book Mist got him for his birthday. Ranulf watching over Ike’s shoulder and cracking jokes about the weird naming conventions.

Meanwhile, Soren would be trailing a step or two behind, silently categorizing all the plants and pointing out which ones are edible, or could be used in tea, salves, ect. Carefully collecting small samples in his bag.

Ike and Ranulf pause to listen every time he speaks up, and take little nibbles when prompted, and give their opinions on the flavor.

They’d pause in a small clearing and eat the sandwiches Ike had prepared, along with the fruits and snacking veggies Soren insisted on including for a balanced meal. At the end, Ranulf would reveal some sweet treats he’d brought along for Soren and him to share, then insist on taking a quick catnap in the sun.

Just Ike and his boyfriends enjoying the great outdoors.

(sorry for the delay ;u;) as always, i’m using pegasusknight as my source for the original japanese scripts and fireemblemwiki as my source for proper nouns, images, and other info. ‼️ may contain spoilers ‼️ ネタバレ注意 ‼️

2 [オスカー] やあ、また騎士団に戻れって話か？

21,22 [kieran] i know better than anyone how capable you are. 23 we're star-crossed rivals, after all. 24 if you just say you'll come back, 25,26 i'll give such a stunning recommendation they'll have no choice but to take you back!

27 [オスカー] ありがとう。 28 でも、戻る気は本当にないんだ。 29 ……傭兵団に入り、 30 いろいろな仕事をするうちに…… 31 私は民の悲しみを目の当たりにした。 32 誰にも知られることなく死んでいく人々がいる。 33 国には救いきれない人々がいる。 34 だったら、それを助けるのは 35 自分たち野の人間だと思う。 36 それに、名誉などは私には不要だ。 37 傭兵団という私の家族が守れれば、 38 それで充分なんだ。

27 [oscar] thanks. 28 but i'm really not coming back. 30 ...the jobs i've worked since 29 since becoming a mercenary 31 have been the saddest of my life. 32 so many people die off-stage-- 33 people who wouldn't be saved by belonging to a nation. 34 who's going to help them 35 if not their fellow exiles? 36 and anyway, i don't need glory. 38 i just need to 37 protect my family.

39 [ケビン] く……くそう！ 40 貴様、なんだかまぶしいぞ！ 41 なぜだ……またもや 42 貴様に負けた気がする……！

39 [kieran] argh--damn you! 40 your halo blinds me! 41,42 you make me sound like a damned court jester.

43 [オスカー] そんなことはないだろう。 44 きみのような騎士の身でなければ、 45 成し得ないことも沢山ある。 46 だから、お互いがんばろう。 47 立場は違っても、 48 目指す理想に変わりはないはずだ。

43 [oscar] perish the thought. 44,45 there are plenty of things only knights can do. 46 we're still partners, you know-- 47 even standing at different poles, 48 we envision the same new world.

49 [ケビン] …………そうか。 50 ならば、もう言わん！！ 51 クリミア再興が成った暁には、 52 オレは必ず大陸中に 53 鳴り響くような活躍をするぞ！ 54 貴様がどこにいようとも、 55 オレの活躍が伝わるようにな！

49 [kieran] ...you really believe that, huh. 50 then, fine--fine! 51 but just you wait--until a new day dawns on our reborn crimea, 52,53 tales of my noble deeds will ring across the continent! 54 and no matter where you are, or what you are, or whose banner you're under, 55 you're going to fucking hear about them.

56 [オスカー] ああ、君ならきっとできる。 57 この大陸のどこかで、 58 武運を祈ってるよ。

56 [oscar] i had better. 57,58 how else will i know my prayers are working?

vocab, expressions, & grammar

誇り（ほこり）に思う = to take pride in, pride oneself on

賞賛（しょうさん） = praise, commendation

凱旋（がいせん） = triumphant return

賜る（たまわる） = to be granted, honored with; to bestow, confer

武運（ぶうん） = fortune in battle, fate as a warrior

translation notes & questions

this was actually pretty tough to translate, mostly because both of them are speaking in big paragraphs. because of structural differences between english and japanese, big paragraphs need many more intermediary steps (in my experience) before you (i) can translate them smoothly. but once i got going, i found lots of places to be creative!!

29-30 「傭兵団に...するうちに」 - oscar literally says, since joining the mercenary band, he has "put the sadness of the people at the forefront of [his] vision". my translation puts him into the role of recipient (i.e., of the sadness), but in the original he's looking right at the sadness on purpose.

32 「誰にも...いる」 - oscar literally says, "there are many people who die without anyone knowing about it."

35 「野の人間」 - oscar refers to the mercenary band here as "wild humans." metaphorically, this means humans with no allegiance, but the use of 野 does in fact bring to mind the image of wilderness or even wild animals. but at least in english, you have to be very sensitive when applying the word "wild" to people, so i went with the metaphorical meaning and translated this as "exiles".

37 「傭兵団という私の家族」 - oscar literally says he wants to protect "the mercenary band who are my family", as in, he considers all the mercenaries his family. this is clunky in english, and i liked creating ambiguity between his actual family who are in the mercenaries vs. the mercenaries as a whole.

41-42 「なぜだ...気がする」 - i embellished here big-time. kieran literally says, "why...? i feel like i've lost to you yet again!" in my opinion, he didn't really need to say this again, so i made it into a contrast between oscar being angelic (l. 40 "halo", or literally "bright" in the japanese) and kieran feeling inferior or laughable.

46 「お互いがんばろう」 - oscar literally says, "let's try our hardest together", but with the sense of mutually trying their best, as if they're doing it equally to one another or even for one another.

48 「目指す...はずだ」 - oscar literally says, "the ideals we're aiming for aren't different."

55 「オレの活躍が伝わるようにな」 - kieran literally says he will accomplish his deeds "in such a way that they will be conveyed" to oscar. the sense of "conveyed" here is natural conveyance, like word of mouth or passing into legend.

56 「君ならきっとできる」 - oscar literally says, "you of all people will surely be able to do that" (in reference to l. 55).

57-58 「この大陸...祈ってるよ」 - this line is actually a call-and-response to kieran's line 52, where he references the "continent." oscar literally says, "somewhere on this continent, i'll be praying for your luck in battle," the implication being, he'll be praying that kieran both gets glory and does not die. i liked this second part a lot, since oscar is usually quite calm and we don't get the sense that he worries about anything. so i translated these lines very loosely to show that no matter what, oscar still wants to know kieran is safe. (very much brings back the "protecting family" idea from l. 37, where we can tell he isn't just referring to his brothers!)

whew--i'm happy i finally finished this! and i'm particularly proud of the lines where i went off-script rather a lot (ll. 31-32, 40-42, and 56-58). it's great to have the official NOA translation, which is pretty to the letter, so i can get silly with it!! :)

anyways, thanks again to umuulan-na for (loosely) requesting this support line. i actually just started playing fe10, so get ready for more soon...!!
