Brew #216: Tempest Brewing Co. Mexicake Imperial Stout

ABV: 11%

Served: Off the shelf

Aroma: Chocolate, vanilla, spice

Pour: Cola black with fizzing dark brown froth disappearing to a slight skim

Taste: Savage vanilla kick upfront moving into dark chocolate bitterness and bite with the chili heat underneath. Taste all the spice in the back of the throat with the heat, this is fucking gorgeous. A big luscious stout cake, happy days.

Notes: 330ml bottle, cinnamon, chillies, vanilla beans

Brew #215: Tempest Brewing Co. Red Eye Flight Mocha Porter

ABV: 7.4%

Served: Off the shelf

Aroma: Chocolate, roast coffee beans, slight burnt notes

Pour: Black with fizzing tan froth reducing to a skim

Taste: Full black roast coffee smack moving into a slightly burnt malt taste. There’s a lovely nuttiness in there and a hint of toffee with good carbonated mouthfeel. The aftertaste is all coffee; an excellent and really tasty porter.

Notes: 330ml bottle, malts - GP, Munich, Chocolate, Black, hops - North American

Brew #211: Tempest Brewing Co. Marmalade on Rye IPA

ABV: 9%

Served: From the fridge

Aroma: Orange, pine, minor malty notes

Pour: Cloudy marmalade (what else!) with an off white froth reducing to skim

Taste: Tangy honey sweet orange upfront before a big kick of hops. Lovely bitter bite at the finish; this is terrifically hoppy and not overly potent in taste with that high ABV. A really, really tasty sup with a nice piney aftertaste.

Notes: 330ml bottle, oranges, ginger, rye.
