They'd taken a turn in season four, where not a lot of people died, but a better chunk of story was told and we were able to learn more and more about all of the characters. That was the season where critics were becoming more impressed with the story. Which is what they want. They want good reviews and potential awards, even though when they don't get any nominations they start to go on about how that's not the point. [we know that's something you want, you guys, you campaign hard] So, what exactly happened to the writers between the two seasons? Why did they abandon "character" to go back to simple "shock"? Why would you do that?
