I also think the quality & focus of this season is so difficult to accept because we all (EVERYONE…fans & critics) thought a different type of writing team arrived. One that cared about characters first. One that valued story. But we were fooled :(

They'd taken a turn in season four, where not a lot of people died, but a better chunk of story was told and we were able to learn more and more about all of the characters. That was the season where critics were becoming more impressed with the story. Which is what they want. They want good reviews and potential awards, even though when they don't get any nominations they start to go on about how that's not the point. [we know that's something you want, you guys, you campaign hard] So, what exactly happened to the writers between the two seasons? Why did they abandon "character" to go back to simple "shock"? Why would you do that?

What episode of OTP did you all discuss TWD and Bethyl? I'd love to listen!!

Honestly, I'm not sure we ever got to it. It was all happening around the time that we stopped recording (with the exception of a couple of episodes that we recorded that, due to some kind of technical problem I was never able to solve, the audio was completely unusable. But our schedules just got so busy and have remained that way. We've actually only seen each other once since we went to Chicago in June. We really, really want to start up again, but it's hard to find time.)

If we did ever get to talking about it on the podcast, it would have been in one of the last few episodes (probably the last one, but I'm really not sure. If you go to onetruepodcast.tumblr.com and go to the Bethyl tag, you might be able to find the episode (if we did talk about it), as I always tried to tag every single ship we discussed.
