Please, Don't Take My Sunshine Away // Tendernessoftheflesh
It was horrible really, how a song that he used to sing to Raziel to sleep, could end like this. He held the angel in his arms, hugging her close to his chest, trying to keep his tears at bay.
Please don't take my sunshine away."
The words were soft in his lips, broken, nostalgic. His only thought was in her, in the one whom he loved, the one who was being ripped from his grip by the harshness of reality, by the cold hands of the dead.
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried."
He parted, to look at her in the eyes, And this time he couldn't help the tears that were now rolling down his cheeks. He wished this to be a dream, he couldn't, he wouldn't be able to stand her loss. He was slowly filling up with guilt, guilt of all the things he could've done better, of all the stupid little arguments he picked up with her from time to time.
He was holding her small delicate hand in his, but when he felt it go limp, when he felt her give her last breath, that's when he felt something inside him breaking, parting into tiny pieces. He held her lifeless body close to himself, rocking back and forth as he sobbed, tears of fear, regret, heartbreak rolled down the man's cheeks. As if holding her close would somehow bring her back to him.
"Please, don't take my sunshine away."
