Critical Obstacle #2: DISTANCE
Oh yeah, you guys knew this one was coming.
STORY TIME!
So when I first signed up for this journey, Marathon Chris sat me down for some real talk:
Chris: Do you think you can actually finish the marathon? Me: Yeah, I think so! Chris: Do you know where it starts? Me: Yeah, Newton
And then Chris is just like
Literally can't even
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MAY NOT BE AWARE, It starts in Hopkington. Oh, where is that, you ask? I don't even know.
To put this into perspective for my brain, I asked my good friend Google just how far it was from my house in Cohasset, MA to the finish line Copley Square.
It was 18.3 miles. I immediately panicked. I'm over it, now.
BOY have I come a long way, though!
I did 15 miles again this weekend! It was tough though, it was long and cold and by mile 12 or so every single part of my body hurt. I have two more significant long runs before the marathon: an 18 miler and a 21 miler and HOLY GUACAMOLE that's a lot of running.
Let me fill you in on a dirty little secret of mine: I've slacked off a bit in my training these past few weeks. Not because I haven't wanted to, or because I was just too gosh darn tired, but because I ran into this little issue of tendinitis in my foot.
But more on that later.
For now, I have to focus on my midweek runs. Short they may be, but necessary nonetheless to be in tip top shape for my long runs!
ALSO big party this weekend at the quar! If you were fortunate enough to get tickets, I'll see you there!! If not, you can still support me by leaving a little love on my donation page :)
